Ys Origin Is Just $19.99 On Steam (P.S. It’s Coming Next Week)

By Spencer . May 24, 2012 . 10:40am

04-04Xseed will release the prequel to the entire Ys saga, Ys Origin, as a Steam download on May 31. Ys Origin will cost $19.99 in North America, €15.99 throughout Europe… except the UK where it’s £12.99. In Russia, Ys Origin is 399 rubles ($12.50).

Set hundreds of years before Adol and Dogi’s adventures, Ys Origin explains the story behind the twin goddesses and the mysterious Black Pearl from Ys I & II.

The Steam version has online leaderboards, enhanced game pad support, widescreen monitor compatibility, and it uses Steam cloud.

Oh god yes. My body and computer are ready.

That’s more expensive than Oath though, but I guess they did have to put extra effort into revising and editing the English script for the US version of Origin.

Still, a great game for that price. Despite some questionable music choices, it’s really fun and definitely has the best boss fights in the series.

And it’s also worth noting that Origin is a new (for America) game, while Oath was already released on the PSP by Xseed a couple years back.

I saw Origin and Steam in the same sentence and came packing guns… Good thing I was wrong.

Will be buying this to support Falcom localization projects, and just for the convenience of Steam as opposed to having to install my Japanese DVD and apply updates and English language patches.

Now… some news on Xseed’s next Falcom project would be in order :)  Like a Trails in the Sky trilogy for Steam (or mythical PSN release of SC?).  I wouldn’t complain about a Nayuta localization either, since it’s less translation intensive and doesn’t seem to have much relation story-wise to other un-localized games.

That is a great price for that game! Certainly better than paying for the Japanese version and patching it. Xseed has really come through with the Falcom goodies.

I, and my wallet, are going to be pretty tied up with A-Kon in Dallas next week. But I’m definitely bringing my laptop and hope to have plenty of leftover cash to buy spending money on such a thing.

Certainly I’ve been looking forward to this. I want to buy it day one and if circumstances prevent that, well, I’ll be buying very soon. Keep it up, XSEED!

Shut up and take my money.

Man Xseed I WANT to support this, but Gravity Rush AND Kingdom Hearts 3D is coming out that month. I can’t spend ALL the cash in the world at the same time darnit!

Next week?  My birthday is on the 30th, would like to try and buy this ASAP.

  • Mister_Nep

Is it only gonna be on Steam? Is there any other distribution service on the PC that’s getting the game?
