Atelier Ayesha’s New Battle System Video Strikes With A Back Attack

By Spencer . May 28, 2012 . 2:00pm

Gust made some major changes to the Atelier series battle system for Atelier Ayesha. Sure, you still create items like bombs, but the upcoming PlayStation 3 game introduces distance and an area of effect for alchemic attacks. Players can also move around the battlefield to reach nearby allies for a partner attack or sneak behind an enemy to strike with a back attack.

Atelier Ayesha comes out in Japan on June 28.

I believe I speak for many of us when I say: “Shut up and take my money!”

  • Kick-arse old man FTW!!
Since Rowen in ToX, I’ve been hoping more characters like that would be in my party in my rpg.

  • Phlo

AoE attacks were always in, but they seem like more of a thing here.

Every time I see the witch girl i get diabetes, god lord

Day 1,  Gust keeps improving tremendously with each game they make and looks like this time it won´t be an exception, these people deserve much more recognition.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Saw it earlier and its still great.

One more friggin month…I love all these improvements. Hope I finish Meruru in time.

  • This looks really great. Gust truly is on a roll with the Atelier Games. They truly keep getting better and better unlike other Franchises…*coughfinalfantasycough*

  •  Its weird hearing Awesome Rockin themes in the Atelier games but still fit really well.  Can’t wait

Just goes to show you how talented GUST are; each instalment improving on the other. The plots (of recent titles I’ve played/read) won’t win any awards in that department, but with character interaction and the alchemy at its core… Is there anything else I need from this company?

The artwork continually grows on me, the music is sounding good and the gameplay is looking very interesting. Put me out of my misery Tecmo Koei, and give me a release date! :'(

As long as Tecmo Koei continue to allow GUST to have control over their console games, I’ll be one happy bunny.

Man i really love this game. Cant wait….

  • Carocaro4

Wait if the hot guy just wanted to kill a dragon why doesn’t he just kill one of the witches summons? Just push aside your pride and honor hot guy.

  • Jake Caro

    This music is amazing…

  • Alexander Aubert

this battle system is like eternal sonata + arc rise fantasia but better

    LOVE IT!

gust music style + tecmo koei music style
    its… its……

    • puchinri

It definitely reminds me of the ARF battle system! And an improved version (combined with what I hear is a nice battle system in ES) is superb~.

lol, this to all of that.

  • yalissa

When I get my hands on that soundtrack…

    • puchinri

I know, right? The music on the website sounded nice, and it sounds awesome here too. Needed that OST yesterday.

  • ;_; wheres a learn japanese in time for june 28 handbook? i wonder if it’d be too hard to navigate around/finish quests with only basic knowledge. it’s shaping up to be amazing though. i’m loving the combat focus.

    • KuroiKen

Atelier games are usually not really hard to play with basic japanese knowledge.
They were one of the first series I played in japanese and had pretty much no problems in understanding quests/story.

  • z_merquise

Ayesha look so lovely, pink-haired witch is cute, hunky hunter is so cool but that old man is bad-ass!

Also liked Ayesha’s expression when she lift what may seem like a heavy item.

All in all, game is looking good. Looking forward for an English version. I hope that won’t take a while.

  • puchinri

Oh, gosh. This game is just so cute and charming and pretty and ridiculous. And I love it already and cannot wait for it to come out. x’D

  • Nitraion

O_o Special effect is much improved Thank you…..
Item is best friend in alchemy game ^^

  • Atelier Ayesha, proving that turn-based battles aren’t dead yet in lovely fashion. And when I thought GUST couldn’t make this series any better… Well, GUST, you can have my money right now!

  • KuroiKen

Even though it looks nice and all…I still am not contend with something, so I probably won’t buy this one.
Too bad, the battle-system looks great.

  • AzureNova

Wow GUST, just wow! After watching this trailer, I most definitely am getting this day 1! Everything about Ayesha just screams God tier lol. The music, the visuals, the character design, level design, and the characters themselves all bring happiness and joy to this gamer. As many have stated before, GUST, you already have my money =^_^=
