By Spencer . May 29, 2012 . 6:02pm

imageFinally, we have some news about The 2nd Super Robot Taisen. After delaying the PlayStation 3 game from its September 2011, Namco Bandai announced in Famitsu The 2nd Super Robot Taisen will be available in Japan "this winter."

Scans show Jakubuou and Bujakuou in The 2nd Super Robot Taisen along with mecha from Real Robot Regiment and the manga series Lost Children. The magazine also says Banpresto created a new battle system dubbed the Twin Battle System.

The 2nd Super Robot Taisen made a brief appearance at Tokyo Game Show 2011 with this trailer.

Think its been a literal year since it was put off from its release, but still:

Waga Zankantou ni… TATENU MONO NASHI.

    • z_merquise

Where do you get that avatar?

      • DanteJones

Its from the Inspector anime! :D

  • Phlo

Twin battle system isn’t new, it’s been in all the OG games since the 1+2 remake.

    • LynxAmali

Who knows if it’s the same?

I’m thinking something along the lines of L’s Partner System or at least giving the choice of deploying units pre-paired and separating them in mission.

      • Phlo

Yeah, the clearer scans show that you can deploy units already in pairs.

  • SetzerGabbiani

0_0….. Z II clearly had priority.  I don’t even know if I’m still excited or not.

  • WingsOfEternity

    I will flip tables if L and Z2’s protagonist(s) aren’t in this

    • VenerableSage

I’d start flipping tables already then; They still have to include J, K, W, and Z at the very least (if they’re doing them in order). That’s also not counting any of the other various titles that had originals that haven’t been brought in yet either (for example, I have no idea if GC had originals or not).

Plus, if you think about a group that’s *really* overdue for inclusion into the main OG timeline, the main Masoukishin units (beyond Cybuster anyway) could use some love too. (Yes, they partially count being OG Saga titles, but I’m strictly meaning the primary entries into the series (OGs, OGG, 2ndOG, etc.). With the remake and Masoukishin II, maybe Banpresto plans to expand them beyond the Masoukishin titles, like how they appeared in Alpha Gaiden.)

Anyone know what the record is for longest PlayAsia preorder? What did I do with that Guinness book…

Whats it gonna take to get this game in English?

    • XiaomuArisu

       Luck and Money,my dear boy,Money.

    • Tom_Phoenix

      A miracle?

    • Godmars

Compromising photographs. Give me a minute, I’m in the Namco bathrooms as we speak.

And sure this is going to mean taking one for the team, but if it means OG in English, what’s a bit of cross dressing?

      • GVmanX

How much do you look like a ten-year-old?  The more you do, the more it’ll help.

        • Godmars

Said I was at Namco – not the Vatican.

Also figure a six foot tall black man in a red glittering evening dress would be too weird to resist.

So, having only played the Z2 games, and only limited knowledge of the rest of the OG cast, is there anything I should know before I try dive into this game?

…Perhaps I should steel myself for a much harder game, for one.

    • z_merquise

The Gameboy Advance SRW OG 1 and 2 were translated in English. The enhanced version, which was in the PS2 wasn’t. The PS2 version then was followed by SRW OG Gaiden, only in Japanese too.

If you have a PS2 and can import games, I say get the PS2 OGs. I think this game can be a good jumping point I guess, if you cannot understand Japanese and not really after the story.
