By Spencer . May 31, 2012 . 11:41pm

Zone of the Enders was inspired by the mecha anime and Konami got one of the masters of the genre to introduce Zone of the Enders HD Collection. Sunrise, the animation studio behind Mobile Suit Gundam and Big O, to create a new opening anime for Zone of the Enders HD Collection.

Zone of the Enders HD Collection will bring high speed robot action to PS3 and Xbox 360 this fall.

  • Shadowman

They should make an anime for this game that would be to cool.

    • landlock

There is already a prequel to the first game called
Z.O.E. 2167 Idolo. Aswell as a completely different spinoff anime Zone of the Enders: Dolores

      • Shadowman

Does one of them include the the little boy from Z.O.E who mistakenly start operating ADA

  • Cephrien

Dingo makes the best rage faces. xD

  • Cephrien

By the way. That was friggin’ awesome.

    — and that naked Ken bit was just MMM-mm. ME GUSTA.

  • Godmars

Wonder if they fixed the badly scripted/translated opening dialog?

  • Can someone explain the naked Ken and Leo scene? I honestly don’t get it. Everything else is brilliant and it makes me want the game even more!

  • AokiShizuku

Zone of the Enders. The slayer of all mech games.

Konami may as well have my entire life-savings if they’re going to make more stuff like this.

  • DongT

    *jaw drops* i NEED THIS.
never got to play these games the first time around but giant mechas are right up my alley.

  • Repede91

Needs more Anubis, and while we’re at it can Kotobukiya stop playing with my heart and release a Anubis Plamo kit?

Still, can’t wait for this and the Enders project.

  • Repede91

Wonder what the odds on the GBA game being included in this collection are?

The MGS collection had the MSX games as a bonus, and there were 3 main games in that collection versus the 2 for Z.O.E.

    • Considering that Nintendo owns the rights for Fist of Mars, very very unlikely. A shame though, since I liked that game. ZOE meets SRW – maybe the 3DS will get a proper sequel to that soon.

      • Repede91

Whoa! That’s a shock, I had no idea Nintendo had anything to do with that game more than being the platform holder. That’s a real downer.

        • PoweredByHentai

Nintendo is just the platform holder.  It does not own Fist of Mars as it is still an entry in the Zone of the Enders intellectual property, which belongs to Konami.

      • PoweredByHentai

Nintendo doesn’t own Fist of Mars.  It has the right to redistribute it on Virtual Console or the eShop but it does not own the IP.

Konami owns the Zone of the Enders property and Fist of Mars is a part of that property.

  • Trotmeister

2nd Runner is one of the awesomest games ever. Might be the first HD port I’ll play.

  • Christopher Nunes

No words could describe how beautiful and amazing it was. :’)

Day One purchase baby… no Pre-Order immediately! Why hasn’t I done it yet!?
I love Zone of the Enders! Best. Mecha. Game. Ever!

  • boundries_san

Zone of Enders + Sunrise??? This will surely become Godlike quality.^^

  • boundries_san

Haha Sunrise really got me on the naked “Newtype” scene lol.^^ As usuall Sunrise quality never fails.^^

  • I love how the opening re-captures the awesome gamplay moments like grabbing an enemy or fighting an armada of giant ships in ZOE2 although there’s actually very little focus on ZOE1.

A naked Ken Marinaris!? YES!!! Thank you, Kojima!!! I just hope opening won’t be butchered for the EU version.

    *manly tears*

    •  Let me follow with *manly tears*

  • Definitely getting this on the Vita when I get a Release date for it :D
The animation just looks pretty awesome on Sunrise’s Standards.

  • Speedo Redempteur

    This is so good

    Vector CANNON !

  • There’s so much win in this new opening, I wouldn’t even know where to start…

    Kojima, here’s my wallet…Now it’s yours.

  • WyattEpp

Damn it all, my body wasn’t ready.  Now I’m bleeding from multiple awesome-wounds.

  • This opening is fantastic and I absolutely cannot wait for this collection. Only complaint is it needed more stuff from the first game! I actually really, really enjoyed that one but have yet to finish the second. I was going to play through them both before hearing the initial announcement and I’ve only been getting more and more excited since! :D I AM READY KONAMI!

  • Nathanael Chu

*buff guy needs to anchor his mech to the ground just to survive his own recoil*
If you see your enemy anchor himself down just to charge a cannon, you know you’re screwed :D

Man, I seriously need to buy an Xbox now. Maybe I just like to see mecha with energy wings, but this looks awesome. As long as they fly fast, of course. Gundam games always seem to have slow movement for me.

  • João Madalena

I’ve been craving for a mech game, since I’ve finished muv luv, is this a good choice?

    • Not just a good choice. It will make you think you paid less than what you bought it for. xD

      • João Madalena

Thanks, I will be sure to buy it then, Time to do some Takeru style moves.

  • Sunrise delivered an amazing opening here. Glad to see that they’re still at the top of their game…well, Gundam Age and Unicorn help to prove that as well, but it was nice to see this. I cannot wait to play these games, now I just need to go preorder a copy for myself.

  • I still get chills everytime I hear that song.

Also, now you can see the Jehuty “cockpit” in glorious HD.

  • Clifford Pierre Louis

GREAT, now I want this to be an actual anime and I know it’s never gonna happen.

    •  But there is an Anime 8D…just doesn’t have anything to do with 1 ( i think?) and 2

  • monk_123

That is some subpar looking CGI they got there. It’s pretty disappointing when I find the in game animation actually looking better than the cinematic animation shown in the new OP (Thanks for naked Ken floating in space though). Come on Sunrise, you can do better than this!

It’s cool that we got something new, but I feel the old opening is still far more superior because of how well directed it is. I guess I’ll continue to feed on that, until the game comes out. :P

  • I’m happy they used “Beyond the Bounds” but i didn’t i kinda miss the in-game VA that would play during the opening like with 2…oh well i like it

  • I’ll take this as a sign that #ZoneOfTheEnders will have a future appearance in #SRW, since Konami got the studio responsible for one of the “Holy Trinity” of SRW, Gundam.

  • The new animation is looking really great! Plus I am glad they kept Beyond the Bounds. Though it would be nice if the old ones are in somewhere.

  • XiaomuArisu

Oh My God!I loved that song!I always used that song in MGSPeace Walker!I thought it was a vocaloid song-_-idiot is me.
Im getting this game for the Revengance demo AND high speed robot action!

  • Nathan_GreeneIV

    My……My…..MY WALLET!!!! T0T
Worth it for both my childhood and demo for MGR!!!!

  • protofox

I JUST found an original mint copy of enders 1 on ps2 a few weeks ago and now i find this is coming out. i almost am tempted to not beat this ps2 version just so i can play it all in sexy HD glory…grr…what to doooo..

  • Göran Isacson

Question: I recall a trailer for the second game with a version of the song being sung here, but without the “chanting” parts of this song and way more instrumental parts. I also think that the singer was english as the english parts were much more clearer and lacking the thick accent. I think the first sung lyrics were the ones being sung at 4:27 as well… anyone else know where i can find that trailer? Because that versions is without a doubt THE most haunting, majestic and memorable version of this tune that I’ve ever heard. Think it was one of the first trailers for the second game when it was new, pretty long too and featured a lot of talk before the singing actually started.

  • Joanna

The song that they used, it’s gorgeous. If the rest of the game has such pretty music, I’ll need to find the OST. I’m not really interested in the game itself. Not my cup of tea, but I can’t pass up godly music like this. :3
