Nintendo Retooled A Wii U Demo Into Animal Crossing: Sweet Days

Recommended Videos

Animal Crossing: Sweet Days felt familiar and that’s because I kind of played it last year. Nintendo took the Chase Mii tech demo from last year’s E3 and turned it into an Animal Crossing themed attraction for the Wii U title Nintendo Land.

Just like Chase Mii, the player using the Wii U controller has to catch the other Miis, which are dressed like Animal Crossing neighbors in this Nintendo Land attraction. The big difference is Animal Crossing: Sweet Days puts the catcher player in control of two guards at the same time. Each analog stick moves a different guard and the shoulder buttons make Miis dressed like Animal Crossing characters Copper and Booker dive at the other players. Catch the other players three times and the guard dogs win.

The other players win if they can eat 50 pieces of candy before the catcher grabs them. Candy hangs from trees and two or three players have to stand on switches to make it drop down. Eating candy slows your Mii down, which makes you easier to catch. I suppose the other players can act like decoys to distract the catcher, but we won the game so fast I couldn’t try this out with my group.

Animal Crossing: Sweet Days is a quick game and each round lasts at most a couple of minutes.
