Dragon Quest X Keeps The Wii Alive With New Hardware Bundle

By Spencer . June 12, 2012 . 2:20am

imageWhile it seems like the Wii is over, Square Enix is keeping the console going in Japan with Dragon Quest X.

Nintendo is also bundling the game with a brand new black Wii, Classic Controller Pro, USB Memory drive, and a 1,000 yen Nintendo prepaid point card.

The bundle shows up on Nintendo’s calendar slated for release on August 2, but doesn’t have a price.

I want this game so badly

      I don’t.

I just want Fatal Frame II remake. I already got The Last Story, Pandora’s Tower and Xenoblade so I’m good.

What are the chances this game makes it to NA?

    • Anime10121

Extremely likely for the WiiU version, less likely for the original Wii version (not proven, just my assumptions).

To release a MMORPG to a end of life system like wii is a bit weird… I think they’ll bring this too Wii U

    • DS23

Pretty sure that’s already been announced as happening.

Ah really? :) Thats good to hear!

Yep. Wii U version was announced right when the game was announced.

  • Personally speaking I find this interesting that Square and Nintendo are trying to keep the Wii alive longer this way. Not something I would’ve expected, but it does make sense if the Wii U version of DQX is still deep in development (this is an assumption). I just wonder if there will be someway to transfer characters between the Wii version and the Wii U version when it releases, possibly link all of a player’s characters to some sort of account.

Anyways, this is a cool idea. Now, I just need to wait and see if DQX gets released over here. Hopefully it does as this could be the game to push me into picking up a Wii U.

Well at the mention of the Wii U im kinda curious how well it will sell myself,i know random thoughts hu?, Personally im not interested in it since its not backwards compatible with the gamecube games and thats actually what motivated me to buy the Wii when I did and frankly even with the GameCube games there are so few of them im still dabating weather it was worth the purchase. To purchase the Wii U I think id have to see alot more games, some look good for it but without seeing gameplay I cant reasonable claim its worth the purchase of the system.
Im wondering if i’ll have the same thoughts about this system as I did the Wii,wich I only bought for Xenoblade and the last story(and still hope for pandora’s tower).
