Shin Megami Tensei II For iOS Lets You Side With Law Or Chaos On The Go

By Spencer . June 13, 2012 . 1:18am

imageIndex Digital Media released a port of Shin Megami Tensei II for iOS devices. This release is a port of the Game Boy Advance version originally released in 2003. Shin Megami Tensei II has a couple of extra features like a built in glossary which records the game’s side stories and what demons you have in your party.

Shin Megami Tensei II also has a sound test mode made just for this version. If you don’t mind virtual joysticks and dig nostalgic RPGs you might want to check this game out. Oh, but you have to know Japanese since this wasn’t in the original draft.

I’d side with Law simply because of its theme.

  • Derek E Nay

    I go with Neutral because… it’s what I would do :P

  • dahuuuundge

    YHVH prepare yourself

  • Reno Evangelista

Chaos all the way. No English version?

    • Tom_Phoenix

You’re talking about a game where you can side with Lucifer and fight God. The chances of this game ever getting an English version (at least an official one) are….well, nil.

      • Adam Primaeros

Well, that sorta happens in SMT3:Nocturne’s True Demon Ending, and it did preeeeetty well in English anyway. =3

        • Tom_Phoenix

The difference, however, is that God is never directly named (only referred to as “Absolute One”, “Great Will”, “true enemy”…) and there is no direct confrontation with him. That’s not exactly the same as….well, this:

  • KuroiKen

You know, I’d probably even get an iOS device, if Shin Megami Tensei for it would be translated(and decently. I won’t accept bad translations, since it’s easier for my eyes to read japanese than bad translation of it).

  • The story?

  • Vampiric

I wish the first 2 were localized

  • boundries_san

I am kinda bored keep joining Chaos sides nowadays lol. Maybe another change of pace joining Law this time.^^

    •  Screw Law…NEUTRAL!!!

      • Julien_N

I am also more inclined to go neutral, simply because I can’t make my mind about which faction I would join. XD

      • boundries_san

Nahh Neutral is for me the worst faction too choose as it never really solved anything lol. Just reverting everything to the previous condition. At least in the other two path they provide a certain ending lol.

        • komiko12

Neutral…Haven’t played much Megaten games but I think it just implies that you are content with the world as it is and that you don’t want anything to change.

      • Personally: Law–>Too knight templar
Chaos–> Too extreme but it depends on story.

Since I can’t agree to both faction, sooo PEACE MAN.

    • kylehyde

For some reason, I always end on the law path, or neutral law on my first playthrough on any SMT game. I think that in the next I’m going to try to loose more and see if I get the neutral or the chaos in my first playthrough.

    • Roberto Armando Iraheta

Yes, join us. Humanity is weak and needs our guidance.

      • boundries_san

Yup.^^ This time Metatron will be my leader lol.^^

        • …Why is it that whenever I read/hear “Metatron”, Megatron always pops into my mind?

          • boundries_san

            Lololol.^^ I AM MEGATRON!!!

            Imagine i SMT….. I AM METATRON!!!

  • There was a GBA port 0-0 oh wow

  • I usually go neutral :P Also, would live to give the japanese version a try, but I keep hearing the SMT games are Kanji heavy, and that would prolly get in the way.

  • Truner Razer

The first one lagged so much on an iPhone 3G that it was unplayable.
Strange, since the 3G can emulate GBA games just fine with… methods.

  • neetyneety

So, it seems I’m the only one who has a natural tendency to side with Chaos, eh? Don’t quite understand it myself, maybe I just like to overthrow the world’s ruling systems or something. And going with the whole “Everyone bow down to God” doesn’t sit with me well.

  • Chaos, I don’t bow down to giant yellow heads.

  • ZomaNeko

Honestly this is such an epic game! I have been playing the GBA version (which I have to admit I think some of the music sounds better on this version than the SFC) and although I haven’t quite finished it yet it honestly feels like it’s my favorite SMT so far.  I reccomend any SMT fan to play SMTI and II, and also for II especially I’d say to choose the neutral alignment but the games should be replayed many times anyway.

  • klkAlexar

I would be more excited since I’ve been asking for remakes of SMT1& 2, except playing this on a phone or tablet would be uncomfortable and I really doubt we’ll get this anyway. So no, no luck, give me a real port/remake please.

  • Mod Balushi

Chaos side is the fun side

    also YHVH teehee
