Idolmaster Rhythm Action Game Trio Coming To PSP

By Spencer . June 19, 2012 . 5:18pm

imageNamco Bandai announced a suite of Idolmaster games in this week’s issue of Famitsu. Idolmaster: Honey Sound, Idolmaster: Funky Note, and Idolmaster: Groovy Tune are in the works, but these three games will be different from other Idolmaster games. Instead of focusing on the management sim aspect, the Idolmaster Shining Festa series are rhythm games with a stream of notes to hit.

Idolmaster: Honey Sound has Studio 765 idols Chihaya Kisaragi, Haruka Amami, Ritsuko Akizuki, and Azusa Miura. Idolmaster: Groovy Tune stars Miki Hoshii, Yukiho Hagaiwara, Makoto Kikuchi, and Takane Shijou. Idolmaster: Funky Note has Yayoi Takatsuki, Hibiki Ganaha, Iori Minase, plus Ami and Mami Futami.

Should have pushed it to the Vita…

    • d19xx

Maybe it’s compatible with the Vita. PSP release= Kill two birds with one stone. :)

      • cj_iwakura

PSP releases being compatible with Vita seems pretty iffy as of late.

  • MCoelho

    Groovy because Makoto

Groovy because every single of them. I mean, Haruka, Makoto and Miki ? Wombo Combo.

  • Dokurochan

YES!!! I’m so freakin’ ecstatic that Idolmaster is finally receiving actual rhythm games! I’m totally READY! for this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf2-3ngKBdM
But my two fav idols, Miki and Chihaya, are in seperate games and my reaction to that is this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pcB2Qmbbvc&feature=related

    • Repede91

I’m not sure but I thought Live 4 U had rhythm game elements.

PSP and not VITA…wow…no body want Vita in Japan

    • KuroiKen

Yep, no one needs it in Japan, because it’s more expensive, but only offers GRAPHICS and forced touch screen controls with no native PSP compatibility(only compatible with PSN released PSP games). I’d not need that too, so I didn’t buy it.

      • Kevadu

Nobody is forcing you to use the touchscreen, and I don’t know what you mean by “native PSP compatibility”. PSN releases are native, they’re just digital.

You’re also completely ignoring the second analog stick and vastly improved networking capabilities. Plus there’s a lot more you can do with the additional horsepower and memory than just graphics. Why did the PSP Valkyria Chronicles games have such smaller maps than the original? Memory limitations. But the Vita actually has more memory than a PS3.

If you really think there’s no benefit to the Vita then you’re not thinking very hard.

they’re just waiting for a Monster Hunter in VITA ^_^

  • Andrew Austin

    Wait…why isn’t Miki in Honey. :[

YES! GIVE ME MORE RHYTHM GAMES!

  • Brandonmkii

I know I’m getting all 3, but so many bad idols in Honey Sound D:

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Bamco is so going to win with this lol.

As I believe I as idolmaster fan here is going to buy 3 of them lol.

  • Chiupon

    Nooo! They seperated project fairy!

    • superdry

But, they put Miki and Makoto together and that’s all that matters. =D

  • Hoshi星

PSP! Rhythm Game! Friendly import! Yay /o/

  • http://www.siliconera.com Jenni

Aw. I’m kinda disappointed. I was hoping for a full, Idolmaster sim release for Vita.

    • http://twitter.com/matty_125 matty

Seeing how this is a rhythm game, I’m kind of okay with it. It’s painful buy all of the versions like what they did with IMAS SP (although Perfect Moon was a no-brainer :p), so one copy will suffice.

Although, now I hear that each version will feature different songs? Hmm…

  • Kevadu

Am I the only one really not interested in this games. Mind you, I *like* the real Idolmaster games, but I’ve always thought the actual music was the weakest part. I play them for the simulation aspects and characters.

    So yeah, pass on these.

  • Repede91

Damn! Yayoi, Miki, Haruka and Takane are all in separate versions.

Now just need to decide what version to get.

Why am I lying to myself? I’ll buy them all. The moe compels and controls me.

  • Triplicity

Was Groovy Tune made for me?! Those featured characters…

  • Rolling Guy

    My body is ready! Takane~!

Can they start releasing games for Vita? Half the time we don’t get PSN releases and the account switching annoys me. SONY, give me Vita games, im offering you my money.

Yes!! More games for PSP users!
An a rhythm game of idolm@ster woot!!!

  • Selaphiel

I’d criticize the release strategy, but I still buy Pokemon games.

  • aoihana

    Fuuuah!~ ლ(⋋▂⋌ლ)

I always wanted an iDOLM@STER rhythm game, and it’s finally being realized! From the moment I played Hatsune Miku Project Diva, I always wished that my other idols would get such an amazingly fun rhythm game, too! (ღ˘⌣˘ღ) ♫・*:.。. .。.:*・

As expected, I’ll have to get all three, but that’s okay! I’ll have to go with Groovy Tune first, though! Miki Hoshii is my favorite idol! Really excited for this! (*≧m≦*)

    • KuroiKen

I always thought that Idolmaster 2 was a rhytm game(well, management part aside). Was I wrong?

      • aoihana

I suppose it had that element, but I meant one that focused entirely on that, a dedicated rhythm game, I suppose!

    Groovy Tune 4 lyfe
