A Certain Magical Index Game Coming From A Certain Naruto Game Publisher

By Spencer . June 25, 2012 . 11:03pm

imageNamco Bandai is working with Project Index and announced A Certain Magical Index (temporary title) with a teaser site. Dengeki PlayStation’s latest issue reports a new project called A Certain Magical and Scientific Ensemble is in development for PSP. Judging from the title alone, this sounds like a mashup of A Certain Magical Index and A Certain Scientific Railgun.

It’s probably the same title Namco Bandai is teasing too, although this hasn’t been confirmed and there aren’t any other details aside from the game’s name – A Certain Magical and Scientific Ensemble. Stay tuned for more details.

Most of the characters introduced in the Railgun spin off were eventually canonized by the author of the original novels… But people who haven’t read all the books wouldn’t know that… not that I’ve read all the books.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Well the spin off is indeed done under the supervision of the franchise creator there. So it is not a suprising thing there for them to be canonized.

It is just like how Gundam series where some OVA is canonized even though the process of making them is entirely done by a different team.

    • Railgun manga is written by the author, so yeah. But it contradict some events in anime/LN.

      • Matthew Nichols

I think you mean that both the Railgun anime and the Index anime contradict the events in the Railgun manga and the Index LNs. The Index LNs and the Railgun manga are 100% compatible.

        • Xerain

I like to pretend the railgun anime doesn’t exist. I hope they make a Railgun anime someday. Misaka vs Accelerator is always awesome.

  • Another interesting piece of news. This series (well both Index and Railgun) have made their way into the position of being my favorite anime, so a new game is more than welcome. Especially a PSP game (though it will never be localized here) as that has been my favorite portable system for ages.

Now, I wonder if the story will essentially be canon or not? That’s something I always wonder when these series get games with differing stories or films.

Can’t wait. Hopefully its a better version of the first toaru psp game.

  • Oh hell yeah! Time to get my biribiri back on!

      • Rocsas

Specially the lolis…. bonus points  if they are also nuns

  • Opn

Since banpresto is involved it’ll probably just be a VN sadly.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

      ……. Preg end?^^

  • Göran Isacson

Question- haven’t the VN’s made a time-jump so that Touma and Index are now adults? Will this game perhaps take place in the time jump, or after it? Or will they completely ignore canon and do their own thing?

    • Sardorim

Adult Time Jump? Where’d you get that?

      • Göran Isacson

I’ve read on the wiki that they made a time-jump, so that the light novels now feature a third protagonist that’s not Touma or Accelerator. I think I also heard that Touma and Index were aged up, perhaps not into 20 + but that they are older now than they used to be?

        • Nah, it has a time jump, but the 1st volume of NT shows tht Accel-kun is the protag. And Touma still around.

  • Sardorim

Keep running Touma, Thundere is coming for you!

  • Zero Shift

Looking forward to it. I’m a huge fan of the Index projects. The series has an awesome premise, great cast of characters, and a captivating story. Waiting for a third season of Index and/or a second season of Railgun.

Namco Bandai are working on this. Does this mean they will add To Aru Majutsu no Index dlc costume for Tales of Xillia 2?
