New .hack//Versus Videos For Fans Waiting For A CyberConnect2 Fighter

By Spencer . June 25, 2012 . 12:32am

If 2013 sounds like too long a wait for Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, check out .hack//Versus. CyberConnect2 also created this PlayStation 3 fighter, which comes with the .hack Hybrid Disc.

These two videos show Sakuya, a speedy twin blades user like Kite, and Tokio from .hack//Link who can freeze time.

.hack//Versus and the .hack Hybrid Disc comes out in Japan on Thursday.

………………. Who am I gonna main? Because I’m pretty sure I like over half the characters enough :/     At least I’ll be playing by the end of the week!

  • Ah well seems like I have to get used to it that the Twinblade Empress won’t be in there huh?

Oh well it’s sold out anyways, I really wanted to get a copy for a more or less reasonable price.
Our red headed hero from //LINK still managed to change considerably in those 6 years. Who expected that… but good to see that he still has some familiar moves up his sleeve.

Sakura seems okay, but a little bit too naruto-ish for me since she has a similar move as the rasengan one (dash forward).
Thank you for the fast news and the trailers, this seems like a really fun game for most of the .Hack fans! (especially because it’s been kinda long since we got the last one)

Further proof that i have only scratched the surface of this series when i don’t know who half these people are. I know sakuya and ovan but tokio is a new face to me.

Tokio is the main character of .hack//link. That’s the newest .Hack game out there. It came out for PSP about 2 or 3 years ago. Some of the .Hack//Link manga came out in English by the now dead Tokyopop.

The story of .Hack//Link was that a girl named Saika met Tokio on her first day of school, and forcibly transported him into The World. So he’s like Tsukasa in that he can physically feel while in The World.

While in The World he met Kite fighting a new enemy that freezes him and all previous heroes of the .Hack series. So Tokio goes back in time to rescue them, collect chrono cores, and plot plot plot.

      Hope this information is useful.

    Sakuya… is a train :3

  • Nitraion

Lol why all character not at Tokio pace? (i mean in term of animation speed)

    • exactly what i thought. you somehow gotta hate slow gameplay when it comes to fighting games. and look, 2 player… Y U NO COUNTER NOR EVADE MIDAIR? (unless the game’s lacking it, that’ll be… meh)

      • Nitraion

i feel tokio feel like gamebreaker if he is at that speed and other char speed is slow from all video i saw not mention he can slow down the time too that’s double gamebreaker ==”

  • Woah, did Tokio gone from a goofy Taichi double to a serious Reno look-a-like?

  • Nirun Rangraengjit

I really hope there’ll be more characters… or at least, that they’ll release an updated game later with more characters. Also, if you’re gonna throw in every iteration of Kite-PC’s, where’s Shugo?

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

……. Tears dropping remembering the great .hack series.T_T

Even though this is just a small fighing game, i can make sure that my .hack fanboy heart here is bumping like crazy lol.^^

  • vid two is not Tokio  <<< no details though
    it's from the manga .hot//link

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

But he is still call as Tokio though just “9” as his new aliases there.

    • Freud_Hater

Obviously it’s an older Tokio. That much has been made very clear by CyberConnect2 themselves.

I’m actually ratgher intrigued to know why he is now older, darker and capable of bending time, something he couldn’t do in .hack//LINK.

    • Fidelis

If you even watched the video till the end, you’d know it’s Tokio, since it showed his face..

  • ouch Sakuya’s poor pet thing got totally abused by Tokio!

    •  Poor Hermit, indeed.

  • roockie85

I just hope they make this game for the U.S I So will be triping major ball sack if they do

    • Guest

       I doubt it

  • Spirit Macardi

Awwww, when the article title said “CyberConnect2 Fighter,” I was hoping that meant they’d added characters from other CC2 properties into the game.

  • Tokio not only has a visual dissonace but a vocal one too.

  • Speedo Redempteur

i’m so gonna import this .
i have no faith waht so ever in bandai for localizing this game ..

  • Sakuya is my waifu :3

  • I wonder how this whole 3D-arena type fighting will work out…

  • Zonic505

As much as I’m looking forward to this game (despite not being a big .hack fan/follower), I still can’t get over the fact that some of the music simply just doesn’t feel like it fits, like the music in Tokio’s gameplay footage. Not that it’d bad or anything, it just feels like an odd choice of music to play.

Nevertheless, I still hope this comes to the US.

  •  So is Kite like the Shoto staple of .hack?

  • I have the strange feeling that online will be Tokio spammage up the wazoo, what with his speed and time stop exceed. He looks incredibly cheap compared to the rest of the fighters =.=;;

    Still looks interesting though!

  • Christopher Nunes

Damn, I think Sakuya will be my second main! I really like how she fights! Also Tokio is awesome here! I kinda wonder why they didn’t go with his haircut here for the PSP version?

Anyway I love Tokio’s fighting style, though I miss the Dual Twin Sword wielding he had before, the hand-to-hand combat is sweet and the Time manipulation power is interesting so it doesn’t exactly last long as I’ve notice the Time Limit bar deplete very fast compare to everyone else’s Exceed ability.

Also the music, I don’t mind it… I quite liked the music for both of them. However I felt like they pick the wrong fights for the music, I think the music in Tokio’s fight should’ve been in Sakuya’s fight with Ovan because it fits her character more and it sounds more like a Tutorial Music theme in my opinion and the epic music from Sakuya’s fight should’ve been in Tokio’s to show off his badassery here!

Right now the music in the Kite fight and Sakuya fight video against Ovan is currently my favorite track from the game, even though it doesn’t sound very dothack-like. But oh well, this game is looking more and more awesome!

I do hope there’s more characters in the game than what’s shown here, if that’s all I’ll be very P.O. about it.

Can’t wait until the game comes out!
