image5pb made ports of the PC visual novel series Muv-Luv for Xbox 360. Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative were re-released in October of last year.

Famitsu reports there’s a new Muv-Luv game in town and its based on the Total Eclipse anime series. Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse is coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this winter.

Oh, and 5pb plans on catching PS3 owners up with the other two Muv-Luv games. Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative are coming to PS3 on October 25.

    >Implying the anime is the original source

    • João Madalena

I know thought the same thing, the light novels are the original source.

    • Azuku

No, the article directly states that this is a new game that is based off the anime. The very first paragraph says that the 360 got ports of the original games, and that the PS3 will get them next. Unless I’m missing something, I’ve just reiterated like the entire article…

And stop that greentexting crap, this isn’t 4chan, no one implied anything, and your text isn’t even green.

      • João Madalena

But the anime it’s based of the light novels, so logically the game it’s based on them, unless the anime it’s something totally unrelated to the light novels, in that case it isn’t an adaptation anymore.

        • evospace

There’s the Phantom of Inferno for 360 that is based off the anime art.
If its anything like that, it makes the article logically correct.

        >implying no one implied anything
        >>implying implications
        >>>implying implications were implied
        Etc., etc., etc., ad infinitum

  • João Madalena

Muv-Luv the god series of the visual novels, so glad to see another game, a bit disappointed it is for PS3/360, if it were on PC it would have a fan translation at least.

    • Kevadu

What makes this series so good?  I’ve never played it.

      • Muv Luv Alternative. One of the better visual novels out there.
But you have to sit through its two crappy prequels before you can actually play through it.

        • João Madalena

Actually, just Extra can be considered crappy but nonetheless I enjoy the humor, Unlimited it’s awesome you get to know the other world.

      • Exkaiser

Excellent mecha action and a great sense of world.

Also it’s pretty good at wrenching out hearts, which is sort of a plus.

    • Aoshi00

Does one really need to play Muv-Luv first before playing Alternative?  I’ve gotten the Twin pack since I heard so much good stuffs about it.. while the first game is cute it seems like a regular dating sim.. I want to get to the epic mech part..  there’s a lot of awesome figures for the mechs and girls.. wonder when the Muv Luv anime would air, I don’t want to watch the anime until I finish the game first.. and only have 3 months to finish Robotics;Notes, that seems like a long VN too..

      • LynxAmali

        YES. YES. YES.

You get to know the characters and the issues they have whilst getting used to things. But by skipping Extra and Unlimited, you are taking away the connection with the characters. Lugging it through it is indeed worth it.

Play EXTRA and Unlimited. If you skip one of them, you don’t fully get the story thus making Alt have less of an impact.

Oh, and going back and replaying Extra once you’ve actually read all three titles in order so you can pick up all the nods. Also; Extra’s cover art.

        age- Masters of trolling.

        • Exkaiser

The biggest troll-move on age’s part was never letting Takeru get to pilot a Takemikazuchi.

          I know that feel.

          • LynxAmali

I was actually referring to the cover art of Extra. Particularly, in the background. The pale white in the background behind the cast.

If you compare it to the Takemikazuchi’s body outline….

          • Exkaiser

Oh, I know, I’m just saying that the trolling age puts the player through is nothing compared to what Takeru is subjected to.

            Being Shirogane-kun is suffering.

      • João Madalena

Absolutely, there’s a lot of little things you would miss by skipping them, by the way Unlimited it’s awesome it is in the same setting as alternative there is some mecha action too, the only that can be considered average it’s Extra, it’s the generic harem VN, I enjoyed the humor but it isn’t to everyone tastes. But you should definitely try them, together it’s a god like story. Ah the anime it’s a spin-off so no problems there it’s unrelated.

      • Exkaiser

The mechs are introduced in Unlimited, the second half of the first game.

You need to play Extra and Unlimited in order for Alternative to wrench your heart out.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

    ………… Unlimited Muv-Luv.^^

  • Yes yes yes! (Heart explodes)

    Too….much….Luv (Passes Out) X_X

  • I remember watching Kimi ga Nozomu Eien and like what the hell happened what even is this

  • Crimson_Cloud

Not gonna get Alternative. Played it once already and honestly… it’s too much for my heart to play it twice. Don’t get me wrong, I loved every second of it, it’s just that I’m overly emotional when it comes to these series. ^^

    Looking forward to Total Eclipse.
