Sword Art Online, Namco’s Psuedo MMORPG, Has AI Allies Roaming On The Field

imageNamco Bandai is making a new pseudo MMORPG based on the upcoming Sword Art Online anime series. Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment drops players in an entirely offline virtual world. You will have NPCs as allies and it’s possible to partner with characters walking around on the game’s fields or dungeons.

Partner characters join in during combat and will learn player’s attack patterns. You can also develop partner characters by picking responses when you talk to them.

Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment is in development for PSP.

  • “You will have NPCs as allies and it’s possible to partner with characters walking around on the game’s fields or dungeons.”

More games need to do this.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

      •  I was thinking games not in a fictional MMO setting.

    • So, like Dragon’s Dogma? Was watching a friend play the game and he showed me other player’s characters wandering around the world.

  • Wow now that does sound very promising. >__>
Definitely need to memorize the game, since I’m now looking forward to more news and trailers to it.

Thanks for the news, can’t wait for more! :3

    .dot//hack all over again…..I’m happy.

Wow, more pseudo MMORPG games. If the AI is really “intelligent” then this could be loads of fun.

  • Just curious who’s “Inori” in the pic? Don’t remember seeing her in SAO 1??

Will the game has multiplayer? I mean, it would be cool if you can hv ppl plying as your team mate if the AI is…..I’m not gonna say it to avoid the curse.

    • shinserph

That’s Lizbet and she appears in SAO 2.

  • Awesome!! Even more incentive to explore the land and dungeons~ Would be cool if there are even hidden special NPCs you can find~ ( ❤.❤)

Is the story is fun setting? I mean this is a game you have to have fun
Honestly i don’t get  .hack story why so dark for MMORPG game ==”
    I really really don’t understand

    • Its….not fun. When you game over you game over IRL too.

      • Nitraion

Well i just wanna know is it Dark story setting? i like dark story if the setting is right… for me .hack story is kinda misplaced though i kinda follow .hack and The world game could be banned for such problematic game Lol

        • It has its….moment, but overall its not as grimdark, than say, f/z. (Well, so far anyway. @ Vol 2 & 3 at the moment)

          • Nitraion

Thx for info i wanna watch anime on action…..
i Stop if too dark Lol…

    • Kevin Lor

Its not dark.. Just a bit EMO and lonely

  • Göran Isacson

Interesting. I can’t really think of any other franchise except .Hack that tried to emulate a MMORPG-world as it’s game-world, so it’s not like there’s a lot of competition out there. Will be keeping an eye on this one.

  • Darkrise

Hm, I don’t remember any pet-like dragon in SAO.

    •  It was one of the later books I think

    • A chapter or two in the side story volume is based around Silica a rare beast tamer who was able to tame a dragon at mid level.

    • Vol 2. Basically its a side story volume.

Psuedo MMORPG? This has extreme potential. I just pray they don’t have your typical MMO style battle system like Xenoblade or FF12 (Don’t mean to demean them, I just personally dislike that style). They should keep it an ARPG like .hack//.

  • If they really want to make it a genuine MMO experience in a pseudo MMO world I fully expect a couple of NPCs to be spamming general chat about items they’re trying to sell, and a few more that never get out of the fire. :p

  • Chiupon

I hope to god you aren’t stuck playing as that generic shota hero-boy thing.
