Deus Ex: Human Revolution Flick Being Made By Hitman Film Producer

By Spencer . July 10, 2012 . 1:25pm

image Square Enix and CBS Films will be working together on a movie adaptation of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Kotaku reports Adrian Askarieh who produced the Hitman movie in 2007 and has a deal to make a Kane & Lynch movie will produce Deus Ex: Human Revolution along with Roy Lee who handled the American remakes of The Ring and The Grudge. Eidos Montreal, the development studio behind the title, will be working closely with the filmmakers.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution follows Adam Jensen, a police officer turned security consultant for human augmentation lab Sarif Industries. Adam is forcibly augmented at the start of the game when the lab is under attack. Since choice is a big part of the Deus Ex franchise it will be interesting to see what kind of "Adam" Hollywood creates. Will he be a stealthy fighter who avoids confrontations or go in guns blazing with unlimited Typhoon ammo?

While I applaud them for trying to get some Cyberpunk/Sci-Fi movies back into some mainstream, I really am tired of super hero and video game movies. Seriously. Stop.

Oh god, why won’t you people stop torturing me!

This might be cool but I’m not getting my hopes up.

Wow, there is a Blade Runner sequel coming as well and with this Deus Ex movie we could see a cyberpunk revival…ok now where’s my VHS copy of Cyber City Edo 808!

  • Laharl

Wow, a movie based on a game where the main premise is Dealing with problems and developing your character in your own way…

What could possibly be lost in translation!?

  • TheInternetNomad

    nice, a robocop remake

  • Altritter

This is cool, but I simply can’t get my hopes up. HR was my favorite game of 2011 (Tied with Xenoblade) but seeing as video game movies usually aren’t very good I don’t have much confidence this is going to be.

  • Yeah, take a look at the credentials of the producers. Roy Lee (who made How To Train Your Dragon) and the guy who made the hated Hitman movie. A guy who hasn’t worked on cyberpunk and a guy who made a bad movie. This is gonna suck.
