Neptunia V Has Even Zanier Summons

By Spencer . July 19, 2012 . 2:04am

Compile Heart already got Keiji Inafune to pose as a sword for Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2. For Neptunia V, Inafune is a massive battleship, a play on his last name with the second character in his name read as "ship." Video game champ Mouri Meijin is also a summon along with a cartoony robot.

Neptunia V takes a jab at Famitsu with a four score reviewer system within the game’s Nepstation program. Dungeon layouts look like they have been redesigned with more jumping and a new in-battle feature called Final Hard Form lets the console goddess transform into weapons.

Neptunia V comes out on August 30 for PlayStation 3 in Japan.

You can say that again ouehehehehe~

  • I can’t get enough of Neptunia V, and it hasn’t even been released yet =P

  • Just the fact that Nobuo Uematsu and Kenji Ito are working on this game makes me feel hyped already

  • Juuu

Glad to see that the team keeps coming up with really clever parodies! That’s one of my favorite parts of the series. c:

  • Rakugei

I’m so HYPED about this game. They already made some good revamp already, jumping in the world map, better graphics, personally better skill *they already made coupling skill for noire and pururut*. Also THERE IS ALSO GODDESS CANDIDATES! NISA, YOU NO LOCALIZE FASTER?

I want so much to like Neptunia, but I just can’t get past the unremarkable gameplay. Is there any chance that this installment adds more depth to the combat?

    • Who knows?

This game should really have a demonstration…

    • I feel the same way. I love everything about it except the gameplay. The most important part. I’ll repeat this in every Neptunia story I post in. Idea Factory/Compile Heart should be a concept studio and someone else should actually develop these games.

The first game`s battle system was complete garbage I`ll agree.

But the combat in the second game is much improved. You control your 4 member team on a 3D plane, which gives the game a bit of an SRPG feel. While not excellent, I did enjoy playing Neptunia 2 quite a bit.

If you ever have the chance to give it a shot before spending any money. It`s at least worth a look.

If you have PS+ you could give the game a shot with the full game trial feature on the 7th.

I see it this way. It appears that each release improves on the gameplay of the last game. I see this a a growing title, as well as an experiment on “What can be done.” It feels like they are using this title for concepts, while over time, making it more mainstream. The original Neptunia was…. lacking, and Neptunia MK2 was a definite improvement, I feel they are taking additional steps with Neptunia V, and will continue to make advancements. This title I feel is for the experience for the company while trying to add direction to apply a profit for their work. I find the story concepts myself to be funny, but a bit dry. However, I am seeing constant improvements that make me feel this is only getting better.

I always think to myself “im not buying this game” but I know I will.
While I appreciate seeing the same charecters threw out a story in its sequals/prequals for some reason in this game series I just kind of wish they would give all knew charecters and leave the old ones as NPC types….
I dont dislike the “new” charecters shown but I just kind of wish the ones from previous games would be left as I said above.

*throw every form of money at my PC*

Is it me, or is the Neptunia series get better in concept each release? I think gameplay keeps improving. Honestly, it’s like watching a company make a game engine from scratch and constantly improving it with each game release.

    • Landale

To be honest, that can be said of Idea Factory and Compile Heart in general not just Neptunia. The core of the gameplay between their games changes very little, while they try out various ways to approach that core with some extra details on the side and learning from the mistakes.

  • Nitraion

Hmm I hope IF/CH improve battle system and gameplay further….

  • I think I’m in my Final Hard Form now…

  • cedx123

Neptunia is only gonna get better and better. I am gonna start saving for this game and its collectors edition(if we get one). Can’t wait for next year!

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World
