Sol Trigger’s Battle System Lets Players Decide How Much To Power Up Attacks

By Spencer . July 19, 2012 . 4:30pm

Like most role playing games, Sol Trigger has special attacks and one of them involves firing a neon colored flamethrower. You can supercharge the move by holding down the R button to infuse the skill with more Sol energy or press L to do a weaker attack that costs less.

Take Lightning Blade as an example. Infusing extra Sol greatly increases damage and the growth rate of the attack. Overload special attacks with a burst of Sol and they’ll change like how Sophie finishes with an explosive flame burst.

Sol Trigger comes out for PSP on October 4.

Hey this does look good! *just checked out the game*

If only there was a chance this could come overseas, but PSP…

  • Kuroki_Tenshi

Wow, now that sound like…VERY GOOD!
Gonna get the game. Well, I was interested in it since it’s announcement anyways.

  • CobbleCake

This makes me wonder what 7th Dragon 2020 could’ve looked like if it weren’t chibi-fied.

  • z_merquise

To be honest, the thumbnail in the homepage made me look in it. Now what I see is an impressive looking RPG. Yeah, I’m interested in this game right now.

And I like that blue-haired girl, Sophie. She looked sexy and her weapon is awesome.

Soooo, English localization? C’mon, just a PSN download would be fine to me.

    • midgard229

for real, i mean they released that other game like last month in america, so since this looks actually good im hoping it comes to america. I dont need Dubs, just english subs and im fine

      • http://twitter.com/AT0M1KAL3X Alex

english dubs are way better anyway. i love the emotion and feelin that the japanese put in really giving these characters life. i’d feel like im watching an anime too. sides playing a game and learning japanese as you go. Doesnt get much better than that. they deff need a umd of this.

        • midgard229

Oh i totally agree with you, I would prefer the dubs, but im just saying if i have a choice of subs or no game i will choose subs lol.

sorta like they did with Fate Extra.
doing dubs takes alot of resources so i understand if they dont do it :P

  • l777l

I’d buy an English Tokitowa – Sol Trigger pack.

  • revenent hell

Yet another game I beg for localisation…C’mon as much as I dislike DD releases if it meant getting this game at all I would gladly swallow my dislike and buy this game on its release day, well I did it for Corpse Party and Unchained Blades so im  probably a hypocrite since I dislike the media yet still buy the games but eh I want the games :D

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Good ol’ Imagepooch. Day one buy.

  • Ace

Yet another piquant JRPG that I’d like to see released internationally.

  • http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/21421.html?type=4 Kashell

Damn, I was interested before but now my level of want for this has skyrocketed.

    “Throws money at screen”

Please Imageepoch, don’t make this the reason I go and fully learn Japanese.

Person: “So AzureNova why did you learn Japanese?”

Me: “I-I had to play Sol Trigger.”

    =P

    • http://twitter.com/AT0M1KAL3X Alex

loolz that seriously nailed. im learning cause i plan on living there one day. But thats the best way to put it cause japanese games also help with the language too.

  • Letiumtide

It’s bugs me a lot that we won’t be getting this, because most Japanese companies believe the PSP to be completely dead in the west. So even the slightest chance of getting this has pretty much dropped to zero.

  • Xapth

I’m getting so many Persona vibes from this and it’s only amplifying my already extreme excitement for this title!

How can I not forgive Imageepoch for the lack of Tokitowa gameplay trailers when they give me ones this awesome?!

I really, really, really hope this gets localized overseas!

  • Mad_Dog_Yayan

Awesome trailer. So, the Sol Trigger “Rouge” is the Sol Trigger’s support team. I’m getting more and more excited for this. BTW, there’s a new character video, it’s for Fran, she’s an antagonist and Istvan’s loyal subordinate.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7xGO_yd7Xk
I really wish they will finally show some character video for Farel. I mean, he’s the MC but still no video when the other characters already have one.

One psycho yandere coming right up!!

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

C’mon baby bring this game here.^^………..”It is on PSP”…..T_T

    • JazzyMan123

NISA could bring it over since they have that deal and all….but looking at BRS, (which we haven’t heard about in ages) I sincerely doubt that this will come over…

      • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Yup thats my whole concern here.T_T I myself had already finished BRS due to importing the game here but if i do know that they are going to release BRS here, i won’t import them.

But seeing how BRS is not released yet after almost a year, i am more or lessnow thinking to import this one.

        • JazzyMan123

Well sure, the PSP is region free and no one is stopping you, so just import away! :)

But yeah, expect more great PSP games to come out in Japan due to it’s popularity there.

          • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Yup.^^ I have been importing a large number of PSP and DS raw games there lol.^^ Even for 3DS too.^^

It is just sometimes, i wish if they are going to localize their games here, they should announce it faster.T_T As it would allow me to avoid importing a game that is going to come here.

  • Abhishek Posooa

Y U NO PUT CHARACTER CREATION!?

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dylan-Ng/100000854638739 Dylan Ng

      Not every RPG needs one.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/PZFYUAI2EUXCNI7GSYCOHCTNDQ do mo

music is amazing……i love rpgs yet i dont play nor finish enough of them

this one looks to be another classic in the late/dead life of the great old psp

  • http://s932.photobucket.com/ usagi_san

Depending on how the game ends. Could this become a new gaming series? Because the game looks interesting enough to have one, in my opinion.

If they do release this in the west, how awesome would it be for the game to also be made available for the Vita; it would get more people interested in future Imageepoch games. A man can dream. :D

  • http://twitter.com/FaithlessMr Bruno Silva

This game looks as gorgeous and fun as it looks interesting. Can’t wait to try it out!

  • Göran Isacson

A skimpily clad woman using a magical flame-thrower to attack.

    Possible relations to Pyro?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dylan-Ng/100000854638739 Dylan Ng

I saw tons of London there!!!

So IIRC, the game normal battle is 1st person and Awake attack is chargeable and 3rd person? KOORU.

Surely there other alternative if the devs think PSP is too risky is it?? *winkwink*

  • Valtiel Ikari

ok. that does it, what do I have to do to get this game localized?

I will do anything to get this game localized, ANYTHING (except sexual favors… unless it’s with Hitomi Tanaka) A-NY-THING!
*rips shirt of in a manly totally awesome way*
    COME AT ME!

  • Crimson_Cloud

    My PSP is ready!

What is the name of that green-haired flamethrower-welding goddess? ^^

    • z_merquise

      Her name is Sophie.

      Sorry if it came late.

      • Crimson_Cloud

Nope, just at the right time. Thanks!

  • Solomon_Kano

Finally got to see gameplay and I wasn’t let down. This is the first imageepoch game I’ve been really interested in. Well, there was Tokitowa but I need to watch that trailer.
