Unchained Blades brought over a dozen anime artists together create character designs for a first person dungeon crawler. Furyu upped the budget for the sequel, Unchained Blades Exxiv, and hired even more illustrators like Suzuhito Yasuda (Durarara!! and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor) who drew the game’s protagonist.
Unchained Blades Exxiv also has notable artists for the main enemies, the Five God Generals of the Abyss.
Etrian Odyssey artist Shin Nagasawa drew Zagan, a battle hardened warrior and the leader of the group.
Kumiko Suekane from the Ace Attorney series created Belial, a hot blooded character who’s attack power surpasses Zagan.
Arcana Heart artist Mizuki created Astaroth, the brains of the group and Shax’ sister.
Eiji Kaneda (Genesis of Aquarion) designed Vepar who has a lust for blood and is the most sadistic member of the group.
Unchained Blades Exxiv comes out on November 15 for Nintendo 3DS and PSP.
