Otome Break, Square Enix’s Mecha Girl Training Sim, Has A Touch Of Retro

By Spencer . August 5, 2012 . 11:58pm

In Otome Break you take care of mechanical girls called auto mecha and help them become more human. Otome Break is primarily a communication game where you build a bond with one (or all three girls) and teach them words. Pudding a la mode, for example, is something you can eat… although it looks like you could "trick" the girls saying its somewhere you can go.

Otome Break also has retro style mini-games like Otome Dash where you have to collect garbage and dodge obstacles. Otome Catch has players catch falling balls and Otome Attack is a boxing game where you have to get a cursor in the red area to hit a punching bag.

Otome Break comes out on August 8 in Japan for iPhone and Android. The game is free to download, but each automecha girl costs 1,000 yen ($12.75) or you can get all three for 2,500 yen ($32). Here’s another look at Otome Saotome, Spica Saotome, and Virginia S. Saotome.

Ah, another one of these Android games.

The only reason to get an Ouya.

It has certain charm and I like how they mix in the arcade style minigames.
They’ve released mobile games for western markets before, I’m hopelessly wishing this gets a chance. But with so much content to translate and untested userbase chances are low.

Viriginia has easily captured my heart already, but they’re all equally lovable in their own way (judging by appearance alone btw).

  • I want that pink pajama top! Looks so comfy to sleep in! I’m kind of confused though. What do you get with the free download Just the program and you pay to play it or is there a girl with the game and the rest cost money?

  • I was all for it until I learned it was a smartphone game. Oh well. I like raising sims and this one looks solid despite its format.

    Nope. Not an otome game.
