The 2nd Super Robot Taisen OG Set For November Release

By Spencer . August 7, 2012 . 4:05pm

imageNamco Bandai delayed The 2nd Super Robot Taisen OG for over a year, but the mecha game finally has a release date, says Famitsu. The 2nd Super Robot Taisen OG will be in stores on November 29.

The 2nd Super Robot Taisen has an attack called a Maximum Break where four units (two groups of "twin units") can team up for a powerful attack. You can have all of the robots fire their weapons off at once or save moves for a counterattack. Namco Bandai also added combination attacks which can be triggered when certain special moves are lined up one after another.

    will this come to america?

    • LynxAmali

       Go beg Atlus USA.

Nobody else is willing to take a chance on the series because Atlus localized OG1/2 and EF. Hell, NISA said they’d love to work on it but because Atlus did the first few, they’d feel like they’d be intrudding on their turf.

And then considering Atlus didn’t localize Masoukishin (either version), Endless Frontier Exceed, OGs or OGG….

      Yeah.

      • Vampiric

if atlus wouldnt do the second DS OG gaiden

I am not sure they would do this

        • LynxAmali

There wasn’t a second OG Gaiden. It was on the PS2.

Do you mean Masoukishin or Endless Frontier Exceed?

And I wouldn’t say never. We got Growlanser so I wouldn’t say it’s impossible.

          • Vampiric

the only ds game was exceed of course.

            growlanser was an internal game

            its a different situation

          • LynxAmali

There was 2 DS games. Masoukishin: Lord of Elemental or Endless Frontier EXCEED so I wasn’t sure which one you were referring to.

          • Vampiric

             Actually its 3 DS games

            Its elemental

            endless frontier 1 and 2

            They Only localized 1

      • Godmars

Think at this point Bandai might consider it to be too expensive or not cost effective to localize it.

        • LynxAmali

Does it have anything to do with Bandai?

I mean, sure, they publish the series in Japan but have they touched it at all in North America? The games, I mean.

          • Godmars

Its their game, which they’ll be charging $100 for in Japan. On that basis alone they could make it expensive if not just a general headache for Atlus to get foreign rights to it. That’s even if you consider a 1-2 year turnaround not including translation time after its Japanese release.

Its that versus a $60 to $50 game in the US that some exec will still be concerned about reverse imports. Again years after the fact.

          • LynxAmali

You do realize that’s the average cost of current gen games from Japan? Because, well, the Yen’s a little pricey demon at the moment. It’s also an import so….

          • agumike (けんじ)

But its going to be on the PS3, which shares regions with Japan already. Compatability will not be a problem, just the language barrier, which most people get over anyway from trial and error

          • Godmars

Which is why localization in general has gone on the back burner this gen. At least on consoles.

  • ShinGundam

    Finally… FINALLY!

  • Jesse Thompson

Yeah, I’d kill to get this localized, and better yet the PS2 versions of the OG saga, but…highly unlikely. :(

  • WingsOfEternity

Throw in a JAM Project song and you got my money

    • agumike (けんじ)

Why WOULDN’T it be a JAM Project song?

      • WingsOfEternity

Their last game (SRWZ2.2) just had a JAM Project opening. So it may not be likely that this one will have JAM Project

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World
