The Disgaea Team Has A New PS3 RPG (And No, It Isn’t Disgaea 5)

By Spencer . August 7, 2012 . 11:52pm

imageNippon Ichi announced The God and Fate Revolution Paradox (see a teaser trailer here) will be for PlayStation 3. In the game you play as a boy who has the power to make wishes come true.

Dengeki PlayStation says the game’s genre is a "fate revolution RPG" and it will have Disgaea 4 style character sprites. The game comes out in Japan on December 20, which means it’ll come out before The Witch and the Hundred Knights.

I think we knew it wasn’t D5. Though it will still be awesome. And probably very similar to Disgaea. What about Project whatever it was… D? Or osmething. I know one of the anniv titles are not detailed yet.

A few weeks ago, actually, I had said this was for PS3. I read an article the day after the rumors about this title came out that said it was confirmed as a PS3 title.

Oh well. It’s good to be right and it’s even better to get another console JRPG.

Now that’s what I was waiting to know.

Great, something else to keep an eye out for that could threaten my wallet.

Though anyways… the concept is intriguing, that I can say for sure.

I just love Japan and the wacky genres they come up with. It makes every game sound new, exciting, and different! Hahaha. It’s an interesting concept, and I’m looking forwards to seeing some footage. c:

“Dengeki PlayStation says the game’s genre is a “fate revolution RPG”…”

What’s with the obsession of making up genre names? Falcom did the same thing by claiming one of their games was a “story RPG”.

    What’s next? Dating-sim real-time strategy RPG?

    • Raharu95

Except for dating sim, that already been half done with Knights in the Nighmare XP

NIS is my favorite publisher, but I agree with you completely.  It’s just pretentious.  Unless your game TRULY plays massively differently from every other RPG out there, inventing a genre name just sounds absurd–and since “fate revolution” tells us nothing about the actual gameplay, I kind of have to call shenanigans.

Glad it’s for PS3, and I really want to see more on this =)

  • TheSwordUser

Oh, great. That means more DLC characters for next Disgaea installment (maybe).

The power to make wishes come true?
I wish for “The Witch and 100 Knights” to get finished before NIS focuses on this game, please!
