Square Enix have shared a new trailer for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, scheduled for launch on the PC later this year. Take a look at the new CG trailer below:

If you’re disappointed that the trailer is CG, you don’t have long to wait until you see in-game footage. Square Enix have plans to show Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn off at Gamescom this month.

So “FFXIV: A Realm Reborn” is a Michael Bay sequel?

  • DanteJones

I could be mistaken, but doesn’t the last couple of seconds sound like a vocal version of the victory theme? Pretty awesome.

    • MrRobbyM

      It does.

    Explosions everywhere! ^_^

  • Settsuo

I’m okay with the explosions since it signifies an actual event and it’s not just there for the hell of it. Besides you can’t have Meteor without a few explosions here and there. Excellent trailer since for some reason it made me think of FFVI. Yoshida wanted nostalgia for this trailer and it hit it home with me.

    Explosions? Directed by Michael Bay.

At this point I’m convinced that it would do only good if Square strived for cutscene = gameplay. Which I doubt this will do.

Again the crystals are important? At least explain what are they supposed to be. Now in this trailer the crystals appear to have emotions or something

    Narrator Reborn~ Thank God…

I’ll just keep taking these trailers till they give me a solid release date. Then it’ll be time to prepare my wallet >:l

LOL The “main character” and his expressions at around 0:50.

“WHOA WHAT THE F–…Alright! This is sick, let’s–hmm. I better get serious again.” xD

    • Budgiecat

And yet is he even in the game?

      • RablaAndrews

        He represents the player.

        Means no.

it’s why i said “main character” in quotes lol.

Hmmm, while I do seem to be liking the direction they’re taking more and more, I do however feel, judging by this music, that Uematsu’s role in composing for this reboot is limited. I do hope I am wrong as he is one of my favourite video game composers

Uematsu is not making the music for FFXIV anymore.  They have a music team that does the music.  One of the composers on the music team did the music for The Last Remnant.  Uematsu’s music for FFXIV isn’t that great, his past works have been far better.  The last Uematsu music that I enjoyed were his work in Lost Odyssy and Blue Dragon.  I don’t like The Last Story music.

Odin looks AWESOME.  Hopefully GILGAMESH will make a grand appearance.  There will be gameplay footage at Gamescom.

    • Settsuo

Gilgamesh is always a welcome addition!

  • Solomon_Kano

Looking forward to the gameplay at Gamescom. Should be good.

  • Syn

Maybe its just me, but from 0:50 the music sounds alot like ”
Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec”. the intor theme from Final Fantasy VIII.
