Upcoming Atelier Ayesha DLC Makes Odileia And Marion Playable Characters

By Spencer . August 8, 2012 . 2:44am

imageCow Paradise was just the start of Atelier Ayesha downloadable content. Dengeki PlayStation said characters Odileia and Marion can be added as party members through DLC packs.

Gust is also working on (sigh) swimsuit outfits for Ayesha and Rinka. The next issue of Dengeki PlayStation will include a code for Willbell’s swimsuit. Every game needs swimsuit costumes, huh?

  • Gust sure knows how to win me over with their artwork!

Am I the only one who thinks fanservice is way over done now? I don’t think swimsuit are needed at all.
inb4 some typical we need fanservice or loli comment

    • I don’t think these character are needed, they are probably going to be incredibly broken just like how that butler is in Meruru. They are not really needed to complete the story but is there for…well…there for the sake of being there. You don’t even get them until the last year of the game. Not sure if you can recruit these character in Ayesha straight away or much later in the game so I’m not going to say anything more.

As for the swimsuit, I’m not sure if they aren’t needed but the fact that female characters looks cute already, they can make pretty much make more money off by making them even more uh cute(?). They know people buy magazine for external bonuses.

I like it how most of the time you only comment its to say something like this.

      • finalheart9323

I like how I only commented 10 Times at the most but you know what I always say. It was on topic and I can say what I like thank you. I don’t see you talking to anyone else. Someone has a agenda but please let’s stop with shady butch queen antics please.

    • Swimsuits most definitely are. But hey, if this is what will give people more incentive to purchase those magazines and raise awareness of their games then why the hell not?

“The next issue of Dengeki PlayStation will include a code for Willbell’s swimsuit”
    Welp, I guess I’m importing a copy.

  • SirRichard

DLC has really changed the future of games. I have seen it, and it is wearing a swimsuit.

  • KotaroInugami

Anyone remember when extra characters were unlocked in games via some insane achievement or quest you did in the game? *Sigh* It’s nothing new but, it just saddens me when you have to pay for new characters in today’s games. :(

    • Was expecting someone to write something like this :/

      • raymk

        yep me too.

    • Landale

Unlockable characters still happen, not as often, but it still happens.
Personally, I see it as the middle ground in some cases. Because, while you could more often in the past unlock new characters if the developers realized that players actually wanted to play with some random NPC that they didn’t expect to be so popular they’d have to go ahead and release a new version of the game that is otherwise the same but with that character now playable so you’d literally have to rebuy the entire game for a single character. So, in the event that a DLC character wasn’t preplanned, it’s definitely a good change of pace.

      • KotaroInugami

That’s a good point. It’s fine if used correctly. But it’s not fine if, like in Hyperdimension Neptunia, you are told a character has joined your team, but you can’t actually USE the character in battle unless you buy them online. (5PB-chan and RED-chan…)

        • Landale

5pb and Red were after the fact. Gust and Nisa, not so much.

          • KotaroInugami

Oh right, that’s who I meant. Wow, forgot about my favorite character Nisa.

  • ivanchu77

    Willbell in a swimsuit…….

  • Manny Being Manny

Wasn’t Serahs swimsuit costume one of the best sellers on PSN in the month it came out? Yeah, easy money for little work. Not that I’m complaining..

  • Andar

Certainly, swimsuits aren’t anything new. But they add something I appreciate to a lot of games, but I want to clarify that I’m not talking about fanservice here. Rather, it’s the feature of having alternate costumes for characters. It doesn’t have to be a swimsuit (though that is one of the more readily available options in many games…), it’s just interesting to see another side to characters who develop over a long and involved story. And fanservice aside, swimsuits usually do a pretty good job of matching their character’s personality. Especially characters who have a rarely seen humorous side (Xenosaga’s Ziggy, for example).

i knew it, too bad me already platted this game but maybe i play it again…

  • James Smith

Swimsuits are always a good topic for conversation. Pretty pictures people like to share, some people will always complain about them, a lot of people love them,  only announcing them  brings a lot of free marketing.
As post release content they bring  games back to the spotlight, but as preorder bonuses they create good awareness for the game.
Or they could release one set with the the game, and another set after.
    So many possibilities right?

  • Fire.fire.kun

     Two words: Tecmo Koei

  • l777l

    Too much DLC.

  • raymk

I don’t know how I missed this news but oh well :/. Happy none the less.
