If you’re considering to pay $199.99 for a new piece of SNK hardware you probably want a better look at what you’re going to buy. SNK sent us two more images of the NeoGeo X Gold, which is a handheld…

… and a console when you plug it into a docking station. One arcade stick is included in the bundle along with 20 games like Real Bout – Fatal Fury Special and Metal Slug.

  • If the handheld can be hacked and allow me to use it as a portable SNES/genesis player, I’m game.

Anything can be hacked my friend.

    • Spirit Macardi

They already sell portable SNES and Genesis players. And for far under $200 at that x3

    • Kefkiroth

Depends on the specs. Something tells me this will only be identical or a little bit more powerful than the original NeoGeo to handle the little new features. Which probably isn’t as powerful as the actual SNES or Genesis hardware.

  • Marcelo Henrique Chaves

I hated the arcade stick buttons placement. It should be in a straight line.

  • thaKingRocka

Have they announced how much it would be to own just the portable system with or without the games?

  • Still looks classy, plus that dock is awesome.

  • Brandonmkii

Dem curved buttons on the stick. So much want.

  • konsama

    This looks great xD

Anything with a Metal Slug can’t be bad.

I really like the concept, a portable designed to be docked at home for the big screen with a separate controller, but that price tag seems quite high for what you’re getting.

    • omeganeko

I totally agree, also the joystick is kinda cool as well.

  • Derek

I’m trying to vision myself holding one of these due to the image comparing the handheld to the original Neo Geo.

  • nilcam

It’s a very cool concept and that stick is my favorite of all time but I’m not as excited as I should be. I’d rather get more NeoGeo Station games on PSN with that awesome netcode they use. Garou and the Real Bout games are so missing. Bottom line: I’m interested but not super hyped at this point.

Question- does this mean that the portable console is sold with those other two pieces of hardware, or are those just additions to the portable… or are they in fact the original oldschool Neogeo console and control stick? I’m not much of a NeoGeo-sage… only played their games in actual arcades, sad to say.

  • if samurai shodown 2 is in it then all’s right in the world
