By Spencer . August 14, 2012 . 11:34pm

Sony Computer Entertainment’s Japan Studio revealed Puppeteer, a platformer where you play as a young boy who is turned into a puppet. Players help Kutaro find his head and use a pair of magic scissors to cut through the level.

Gavin Moore who worked on Siren and The Getaway is Puppeteer’s creative director. Kazunobu Sato from Team Siren is a senior designer and former Metal Gear Solid art director Takashi Mizutani is the game’s senior producer.

Puppeteer is slated for release in 2013 on PlayStation 3.

This looks pretty neat. It reminds me quite a bit of Coraline.

  • This game is beautiful. I love the animation and visual effects.
    Definitely looking forward to it.

Ooh! I like this! I love platformers and this is rather different with you losing your head and using a pair of scissors to alter the scenary! CAN’T WAIT!!

  • TaintedSeraph

This is amazing looking! The voice acting sounds great and the gameplay looks fun. Can’t wait until it comes out. Definitely looking forward to Puppeteer and Rain.

I’m not very fond of 2D platformers but this looks really nice!

  • Sho Zero

Wow…amazing creativity and visuals here. Keeping an eye out for this.

Prretty darn interesting game, this one! But am I mistaken, or have we seen this before? I can swear that there was talk of some game where one controlled a puppet, who was a knight of some sort and also went around levels shaped like a puppet-stage. Or was that some completely other game, because I seem to recall that Suda 51 was connected to that other game.

At any rate, this does look interesting. Seems like the witch-character might not be the antagonist though, since she helps Kutaro escape from the big devil there at the end. Maybe she’ll be a Yu-baba like character: certainly not pleasant, but not outright evil? Would be cool to see. And switch heads, get different powers? I liked it in Kid Chameleon, I think I’ll like it here.

The name of the game maybe is Wind up Knight …search it on Youtube

I did, but that wasn’t what I was looking for. I searched some more and then I found it: It’s called Black Knight Sword:
Looking a lot darker than this, even though I think this game does more interesting things with the puppet-theater concept.

The first time I saw the trailer. It reminded me a lot like Littlebigplanet. But more menacing and scarier. I agree with Paradoxme, it does remind me of Coraline, and the new ParaNorman movie. My kids would love this.

never give a paper hero a pair of scissors

If he lies does his nose get bigger?

  • Nikolai Sumcad

Wow that looked absolutely beautiful! Loved the concept and design!

  • This looks like a bit of a cross between Caroline and the plethora of great 2D platformers we’ve had in the past (LBP and Super Mario Bros come immediately to mind). I’m definitely going to follow this game and hope it turns out as amazing as this debut trailer makes it look.

I am sensing a sad story here…. but its up there with my PS3 must have.

  • Niermyico

I love this too along with Rain.

A game where Scissors beats all. lol
