DoDonPachi Saidaioujou Landing On Xbox 360 In Spring 2013 With Novice Mode

By Spencer . August 24, 2012 . 2:50am

l_5036e87a55c5eCave announced at a Microsoft event that they’re porting the arcade game DoDonPachi Saidaioujou to Xbox 360, Famitsu reports.

DoDonPachi Saidaioujou will be upgraded with high resolution graphics, novice mode, an arrange mode made for the Xbox 360 release, and a new character named Element Doll ExtraD.

DoDonPachi Saidaioujou is slated for release in spring 2013. I wonder if Rising Star Games will pick this up and release it in the West.

I have a feeling RSG will pick this one up for Europe, but who knows if they’ll do the same for the USA or if they’ll let someone else (Aksys maybe?) do the job over there.

Anyway, since it has some good chances of being localized, I guess it won’t be region free.

    still no PS3 :(

    • neo_firenze

Because they are a small developer and it’s harder to port to PS3.  Limited resources + shooter community in Japan supports 360 more than PS3 = easy decision.

Also, apparently Microsoft are the ones who convinced Cave to do this port due to the success of SDOJ in the arcades, so wouldn’t surprise me if some money came Cave’s way from MS.  Game will have an “only for Xbox 360” tag on the packaging, so looks like it’s an exclusive.  (

Rising star games will pick this one up for sure, they have yet to let me down :)

yeeeeaaaauh more shoot-em-ups for my soul thanks

wait, xbox still hold events in japan?

  • neo_firenze

OK, time for me to go back and actually read the article now.  It was looking pretty shaky that we’d ever see another Cave game on 360 after Mushihimesama HD released, given some of their comments in the past year or so.  Very, very good and somewhat surprising news.

  • Julien_N

Didn’t CAVE representatives previously announced that they were finished with 360 ports? Anyway,  I am not complaining, this is awesome! And I see no reason for RSG to not pick it up.

    • neo_firenze

Yeah, they did say they were done with 360 after Mushi HD.  Apparently Microsoft Japan actually convinced them to do the port thanks to the game’s success in Japanese arcades.

So… thank you to Microsoft?  Strange but apparently true!

      • Julien_N

It is indeed strange to say thank you to Microsoft Japan, and also to learn that the game was a hit in the arcades. I don’t doubt the quality of the game but I didn’t expect it to appeal to more players than previous CAVE arcade releases.

In that case, thanks to Microsoft Japan (or maybe…thanks to the relative drought of Japanese 360 owners that forces MS Japan to do its best to gather the loyal STG fans that remain on its console~) %D

Very nice!  Can’t wait to play another DDP.

But, I want to see CAVE do an Ibara port since that’ll pretty much complete the SH3 collection.  Hopefully, they can pull it off maybe as a double-pack with another game or on XBLA.

    • neo_firenze

The idea they were previously kicking around was a dual-pack of Ibara + Ibara Kuro (which is a pretty substantial revision), on retail disc.  They ended up deciding that Mushi HD would be the final 360 port though, until this new development apparently after being convinced by Microsoft Japan.  Who knows, if SDOJ does well enough maybe they’ll reconsider and revive the 360 Ibara 2-pack idea.

I must admit I feel like a little bit of a jerk asking “what’s next/what about Ibara” in response to this AMAZING news.  But it really would be sweet to have the complete SH3 library on 360.

SDOJ coming to my house though, without needing to buy a PCB or waiting for next gen systems… ohhhhhh yeah.  Best gaming news of the year so far for me.

      • superdry

I remember hearing the rumor of the Ibara double-pack before, but nothing came of it.  Also, there was suppose to be the port of Dangun Feveron to some platform or another – no news from that in a while.

Agreed that it’s awesome to see SDOJ to appear on a current gen system.  And, yes, I think a lot of CAVE fans would love to see all the SH3 games complete for the 360 before MS pulls the plug.

Nice to see Nagi Ryou’s artwork in newer games. Though I’d like to play another good JRPG with his artwork again. I just love his art style :)

This was great news to wake up to. Very hyped. Gonna listen to RAN on a loop all day.

  • Jrpgfanatic

Looks awesome, crossing my fingers for RSG to swoop in and save the day.

Region Free with English menu and text translation please!

    • Julien_N

You should not hope for a region free release. MMP/PS was the last region free CAVE shooter and I think Microsoft Japan became more strict since those region free games.
However, a localization by Rising Star Games (With an Aksys collaboration for the distribution in NA) is way more likely. ;)

      • superdry

Yup, MS Japan became stricter with region free games – G.Rev essentially said that on their facebook regarding Under Defeat on the 360 last year.

I guess that means Ginga Force by Qute will probably be region-locked, too.
