Crush Goombas With A Fortune Cat In Paper Mario: Sticker Star

By Spencer . August 29, 2012 . 7:49am

Paper Mario: Sticker Star makes stickers the star of gameplay. Instead of selecting like jump or fireball, players pull out stickers to attack. A demo with Mario using a fortune cat sticker squishing a goomba was shown during Nintendo Direct.

Remember the item that was used to scare enemys away?

A tengu mask would make a sweet replacement.

  • @Spencer:disqus I’m I reading this correctly? The game has been confirmed for NA with a date, while Japan will receive it sometime this year?

I’ll probably wait for a demo, if there is one, before purchasing it.

  • Can’t wait for this game to come out! I’ve been in love with paper mario ever since the thousand year door.

Super Paper Mario was fun, but I’m really looking forward to Paper Mario’s return to its traditional RPG format.

  • I’m a little surprised they’re even releasing this in Japan. My understanding is that the Mario RPGs have always been a much bigger success in the West – partially because the Mario brand was never quite as big a deal there as here, and partially (of course) because the RPGs have routinely outstanding localizations that have taken on a life of their own.

Not that the Mario RPGs don’t deserve success in their home country, of course – the first two Paper Mario games are some of the best JRPGs ever IMO.
