Neptunia? There’s An Android App For That

By Spencer . August 29, 2012 . 1:24pm

Compile Heart is bringing the Neptunia series to smartphones. Unfortunately, the setting isn’t an ongoing war in the Appiverse between Samsung-chan and Apple-chan with flocks of enraged emus you can summon.

God App Neptunia is a communication game where you can interact with Neptune and Noire. They say different things depend on the time of day you use the app. Visit them on your birthday and you might get a special message.

You can improve your relationship with Neptune and Noire by using God App Neptunia everyday. Building your relationship will change the alarm feature and how they interact with you.

That’s right you can use God App Neptunia as an alarm clock. There’s a photography part too where you can take pictures with Neptunia and Noire, but you need to buy the full version to use it. Neptune and Norie cost 500 yen each. Compile Heart also plans on selling costumes like swimwear for 350 yen each and extra voices like a summer voice set for 170 yen.

God App Neptunia comes out for Android on August 30. An iPhone version is in development too, but doesn’t have a set release date.

…not gonna lie, I’m more interested in this than I am in the next “real” Neptunia game.

  • AnimeRemix

    Neptunia is just taking over…

  • Godman

Gotta get my hands on THIS!!!!!!

  • Muffum

I’m still rather confused as to how Neptunia got so huge. There’s just not a lot to distinguish it other than its concept, which more often than not is squandered in favor of so-called parodies. I don’t even hate the series; I just don’t think it’s warranted this kind of popularity.

…It’s because of the all-girl cast, isn’t it.

    •  I think the correct term for it is ‘fan service’.

    • malek86

We are talking about two games that sold around 50k units each. I wouldn’t call that huge by any stretch of the imagination. It just seems huge in terms of coverage because they release a lot of small information every time, which is a good method to get more attention. And well, also because it’s a community darling here.

Let’s wait and see how much the third game sells before we say anything (but chances are it won’t do to much more than the previous ones).

      • Muffum

I think it seems huge to me because the fan base is… dedicated, I suppose? It’s similar to how the Sengoku Basara series never really sells up to the standards of Capcom’s other games, but it has tons of merchandise and adaptations because that stuff sells like crazy. Likewise, Neptunia may only have two games that sold okay for their niche, but they’re huge in the doujin and merchandise crowds.

Man, I need to get a smartphone. For, ya’know, reasons completely unrelated to this. So I can do smart… phoney… stuff. Yeah.

  • maxchain

How’s the series been doing on our side of the Pacific?  I wonder if I should cross my fingers for this app.

    • Quinton Cunningham

If nothing, you can change the market for your device and just download from the JP store. That’s what I had to do for Disgaea when I had my android, since we seem to be NEVER getting that…

    • For the record, the series sells better in North America than in Japan.

  • Darkrise

Luckily I have an android phone. ^.^

  • Hope we eventually get localized versions too =^_^=

  • Just Tim

Already have an Android myself, but this gives me the vibe this is a more straightforward date sim.

  • Leon_Tekashi

I wonder, what are the chances of this getting localized?

  • Ray Barksdale

WANT SO BAD!!! But theyre saying its for japan only on android. >_>

  • “ongoing war in the Appiverse between Samsung-chan and Apple-chan with flocks of enraged emus you can summon”
If they made this a game, I would buy this in a heartbeat, blatant fanservice or no

  • cedx123

Noire would be only reason for me to get one of those android thingys(does not know about phones etc)

  • Kitestwinblades

I was just thinking this was the only thing they were missing after reading the anime article.   Game, Anime, Android app. The Neptunia Future is NOW! :3

  • Repede91

I like these sorta “companion” apps. I have 2 Haruhi apps (Mikuru and Haruhi) and a TTGL one featuring Yoko.

  • りんごタルト@エスカのアトリエ

Shut up and take my money.

  • Samsung-chan and Apple-chan. THAT would be hilarious!

  • Lol Samsung-chan and Apple-chan…. Does this means we need PSP-chan, 3DS-chan and Vita-chan too??

  • artemisthemp

PSP – Uni. DS – Ram and Rom

  • Kai2591

Can anyone share the link for this app? I can’t seem to find it…or is it not out yet?

  • Ooo…nice. *^_^*

  • Asuna Ilano
