Namco Bandai has a long line up, but so far most of their games aren’t playable. Attendees can try out Tales of Xillia 2, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, and Project X Zone at their booth.

What’s interesting about Namco Bandai’s lineup is it’s dominated by PSP games like God Eater 2 and Sword Art Online: Infinity Memory. We haven’t seen much about either of these games, so I’m looking forward to seeing news about those at Tokyo Game Show. The only Vita game Namco Bandai has on their list is AKB 1/153: Love Edition, a dating sim with the popular idol and sister groups.

  • shuratan

Greatly looking forward to God eater 2. And I guess what’s good with the Vita is that it’s backwards compatible with PSP games, so those that have already have a Vita and want to play the new PSP games can get it on their Vita. That’s what I plan to do when God Eater 2 gets released~

    • neogeno

Yeah, even if they make physical copies having a PSN release I think would be the most profitable because it gives the opportunity to PSP owners AND Vita owners. They wont be alienating anyone that way. The only thing that could cause a problem is if online communication is hindered in some way between the two handhelds.

  • Muffum

Namco has all these games to show off, but I’m honestly just looking forward to Project X Zone. I’ve been looking forward to it since its initial announcement and am still holding onto the ever fading hope of a localization.

  • d19xx

I guess Bamco plan is to corner the PSP market now that many of its competitors are moving away from it. The install base is huge and many people still buy it.

I think it’s a smart move on their part. By the time they focus more on the 3DS, the userbase will be much larger…

  • Shiki

Looking at all these PSP games brings tears into my eyes ( and drools in my mouth? )

Knowing there’s no way in hell or heaven that we will see a localization for any of them is too much PAIN! ( With drools in my mouth! )

    Digimon , HxH , T&B , SAO , GE2!! … god T ^ T

Thanks namco for the painful teasing!!!

  • s07195

Shouldn’t it be G Generation Overworld?

Also, hoping you guys do a playtest for Project X Zone. :)

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Project X Zone, Lost Heroes, Toki Towa, Summon Night series, Sword Art Online, Tiger and Bunny and especially Accel World lol.(COnsidering that Tekken arcade game shows up in the latest episode as free advertisement there lol.^_^)

Bamco is surely going to screw my wallet hard this year.T_T

  • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

God Eater 2, give me a localized version~.

  • http://Gematsu.com/ Bruno Silva

A strong line up from NB, I’m glad they’re using TGS to push their games.

  • Anime10121

WOW, now thats an impressive list!  I can count 8 titles on that list that I want, however, unfortunately, only half of them have a slight chance of releasing in the west, with one of them (NUNS3) being already announced for localization.

  • PersonaSpace

There’s 1 Vita game in that whole list, and it’s a crappy AKB game. The worst part is, not counting the anime games, we probably won’t even see a quarter of those PSP games in the west. Being a fan of Japanese games in the US is a really crappy thing right now.

    • Ryos

Quarter?  We’ll be lucky if we see one of those.  It’s a shame God Eater sold so poorly here because it was an awesome game and everything we’ve seen thus far indicates the sequel is just as good or better.

      It’s a great lineup nonetheless…just a shame we won’t be seeing any here. :(

    • Domii

I feel you. And what’s sad is that most of us don’t know a single word in Japanese. So that makes importing a bad option.

    • PersonaSpace

the reply I’m responding to was deleted, but I’d like to just say this:
We’re in an age where information is freely flying all around the world. Sure Tokyo Game Show may be in Tokyo, but it doesn’t stop the rest of the world from checking out and wanting a lot of the games in it.

Yeah, we /could/ try to import, but a lot of us would also like to be able to actually play the games without having to learn a second language. (Not that I haven’t tried)

  • Domii

“What’s interesting about Namco Bandai’s lineup is it’s dominated by PSP games like God Eater 2 and Sword Art Online: Infinity Memory.”

Very bad business move by Namco. I would expect they would move on to it’s successor or at least diversify more. Oh well, I still like their line up.

  • http://www.facebook.com/magius.necros Magius Necros

Sweet PxZ is playable there!  Looking forward to it.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

God Eater 2, Tales of Xillia 2,Project X Zone and Digimon !! localize!!!! plz

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dylan-Ng/100000854638739 Dylan Ng

I’m sure Xillia 2 will come out after the 1st one….. But then again this is BAMCO we r talking abt.

  • OatMatadoQuatro

Is cyberconnect planning to release an expanded version of hack//versus?

  • Spirit Macardi

I hope with all my heart that one of those “coming soon” titles has something to do with a series of theirs that turns 15 this December…

  • XYZ_JolteonZ980

I didnt know there was a Kokoro Connect psp game, how would that work, we play as Taichi or Aoki? Hopefully a different take on the anime.
Otherwise excited for Naruto Shippuden Ultimate NInja Storm 3!!! Game of the gen.

Oh also if there is some footage of the ova with E7AO and Accel World!

    • SolidusSnake

Hi Tuna. Btw, game of this gen is gonna be SMT IV.

      • Domii

I guess you haven’t watched the MGS: Ground Zeroes video lol.

        • SolidusSnake

I saw it & it’s gonna rule, but if the new megaten is a fourth as good as Nocturne then there’s no beating it. :X

edit: Metal Gear Rising will also be awesome.

          • Domii

Yeah, I gotta get back on my SMT train. The last one I played was P3FES, and I didn’t finish it.

      • XYZ_JolteonZ980

I need to get back into Overclocked…but I do wanna get SMT IV, hope it is as good as you say!

      • LynxAmali

        Infinite Space says hi.

And there is really no “game of this gen.”

It really comes down to opinions.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dylan-Ng/100000854638739 Dylan Ng

KoroCon game would prob be VN and we either control Taichi or we get to play as each character….. I wonder wht can we change lol.
      *Inaban or Iori…. Tht hard,,,*

AW OVA seems to be Hot Spring Episode IIRC.

      • XYZ_JolteonZ980

Taku in the hot spring please! would be awesome, oh and Crikin too.

For the girls, er, maybe they get Sky Laker there…

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dylan-Ng/100000854638739 Dylan Ng

          >Sky Raker

Oh yes. We need Aqua Current and Yuniko too lol.

          • XYZ_JolteonZ980

Ah cant forget Aqua Current, if she gets more screen time

  • darkfox1

Ah whoah they have awesome playable games though :(

  • Palmer Nyako

Nice! Hopefully we get lots of localizations.

  • Reiko_Chan

Looking forward to Storm 3 and God Eater 2. I’m hoping for a Digimon Adventure localization.  Im strangely looking forward to the Tamagotchi game.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_J24UY7QAEKQY576PHZYS3EN6BA Celine

*silently sobs in the corner because so many good PSP games in Japan and the poor system is neglected in the west*

  • Renaldi Saputra

I hope Digimon Crusaders will be compatible for android

  • Domii

We spoke about this in other threads. It’s a bad business move to lay all your eggs on a dying platform. It’ll be smarter of them to spread their resources around more platforms. Atleast that’s what I would have done if I was running Namco, but I’m not.

  • Herok♞

The thing is if we wanted to talk about the dying platform it would be Vita in Japan, PSP constantly outsells it and it keeps having more games, so consumers are likely to get the cheaper platform with the better library, so no the PSP isn’t dying it is smarter to put their games on it since it has a higher user count, making it more likely for the games to sell.

  • LynxAmali

    -PSP
    -Dying platform
    -in Japan

    Don’t know if trolling.
Research things, man. The PSP ain’t dying in Japan anytime soon.

  • Domii

How is Vita the dying platform when it released less than a year ago? What you mean to say is that it has a smaller install base, but Dying? That’s just crazy talk. If we go by your logic, then Namco should just make ps2 and Wii games only since they have the largest userbase in Japan.

This topic will keep going in circles because if we think about it, its kind of a double edge sword. If a company decides to start supporting a new platform, they have a chance to start a revolution by being the first to lit a fire on that platform, but it can cost them as well. Also by putting your games on a new platform that has sold almost 3mill units without having a strong line up, could mean less competition for you on that platform and in result that will limit consumers options to buy another game that its not yours. You feel me? Its a complicated strategy, but nonetheless effective. A successor to an established platform will more often then not eclipse its older version. History says so, its just a matter of time in till that happens to the PSP.

  • Herok♞

What I meant by the dying platform comment is PSP still has a ton of life in it and The most powerful platform in its generation has died off before early in Life(GameGear,Dreamcast basically anything from sega that took leaps and bounds with power), so even though I don’t want it to die, its a real possibility at the moment, since history has shown it can happen. Even when Vita gets a new killer game they haven’t maintained sales like the triple 3DS combo in December last year, they only cause a Spike for the week and then the sales drop back down. While I understand what you are saying, right now it would be a huge gamble to do when even the biggest sellers don’t seem to be helping, the new Miku game will show if it is viable to launch on Vita since it is top seller right now and if it continues to do well then more people will join but if it fizzles out like other games Vita will be in a deep hole. So what I am saying is if the Miku game isn’t the fire you mentioned, I don’t see what could be unless Capcom makes a Monster Hunter game for the Vita but even then 3DS also has the series, so it loses the advantage it had being on psp last gen since it won’t be exclusive.

  • Domii

Herok. Those are some bad examples you listed to support your argument of the Vita dying. Those platforms didn’t have nearly as much first party power as a Sony platform. While Vita has had some weekly spikes in Japan, those games are not killer apps. The Vita itself hasn’t had a killer app “yet” to compare it to the 3DS, its still way too early. I think the mistake you and a lot of people are making is underestimating Sony’s first party talent. They have really talented developers that can pump out several excellent games (although not as recognizable as Mario) to put the Vita in a really good position. We’ll see what happens, although I think the future is very bright for the Vita in Japan and the rest of the world.

  • Domii

Research? I think common sense is enough to prove my point valid. Read more, man….lol

  • LynxAmali

    Eh..no. It doesn’t actually.

Bandai Namco is first, and foremost, a Japanese company therefore it focuses primarily on the Japanese market.

-It’s a bad business move to lay all your eggs on a dying platform.

The PSP is by no means a dying platform in the Japanese market.
