By Spencer . September 7, 2012 . 2:47pm

shdKonami announced they will bring Silent Hill: Downpour in Japan on November 8. While the game was a multiplatform title in the West, Konami will only release Silent Hill: Downpour for PlayStation 3 in Japan.

Silent Hill: Downpour puts players in the shoes of Murphy Pendleton, a convict who wanders into Silent Hill when his prison bus crashes. Silent Hill: HD Edition was also a PS3-only title in Japan. Konami canned the Japanese release of Silent Hill Homecoming.

Just asking, Silent Hill is still a japanese game?

    • This one isn’t. But I’d say it’s the closest thing to a good SH that we’ve had in ages.

Almost everything now days that doesn’t look Japan, isn’t Japan.  “Almost.”

It’s went to almost everything on the PC being western developed and very little western developed stuff on console, to almost everything being developed is a western developed game and very little Japanese being developed on either console or PC.

    •  Well, the old and original one belongs to japan but the VA is English and it’s look Western because it’s not about Japan (being obvious Lol), and this one is Western-made but is better than other Western-made SH.

  • I like that cover art.

I wonder what Japan will think of it. I’ll bet it’s too cheesy for them. Japanese horror has (almost) always been more about subtlety, and Downpour spells things out for you a lot. But I think it’s done a pretty good job otherwise.

Still haven’t gotten this game. . .yet; I sure hope there isn’t a gamebreaking glitch that ruined Homecoming for me

Ooh, hope it goes over well. I did like this game even if I got a little mad there where characters that felt completely arbitrary, but I recently got into Silent Hill 3 and MAN did it feel different. Downpour feels very melancholy, even in the Otherworld, and Silent Hill 3 is just pure never-ending nightmare fuel when it goes otherworld. Then again it’s also kind of exhausting with all it’s dungeons and Downpour felt better paced, so… guess there’s always gotta be some good with some bad.

    • Koulamatata

Silent Hill 3 was intentionally very “violently” and “in your face” scary, for lack of a better term. It was like that to contrast the quiet and subtler horror from SH 2.
If you haven’t played SH2, i’d suggest trying it if you like the pacing of Downpour.

  • I do wonder does JP enjoy the english dub lk those JP dubs fans…..

Well, at least JP get to enjoy it too.

    • Well, you know all of those old SH are Eng Dub right?

One game comes a little late to them and thousands from them never come to us. It’s good being a Japanese gamer.

The art is cool. It goes with the name.^^
