Well, At Least This New Sakura Wars Games Uses The LIPS System

By Spencer . September 10, 2012 . 4:37pm

sakuraRed Entertainment is involved with a new Sakura Wars game, but it’s probably not what you’re hoping for. Sakura Wars: All-Star Collection is a card game from social game developer GREE. Players can collect over 800 cards featuring more 80+ characters from the series.

What do you do with these cards? You form a team and battle enemies. Essentially, this is Sakura Card Wars, but the LIPS (Live & Interactive Picture System) was salvaged for the game. Between card fights there is an adventure part where you chat with different characters. Your responses change the character’s motivation level and can unlock special event scenes that upgrade your cards.

Sakura Wars: All-Star Collection goes live in September and if you register before the game launches you will start out with some rare cards with artwork by Hidenori Matsubara.

just yugi? why not magic the gathering too? (i play magic and i really like it am just curious) since magic is more popular than yugi, well at least that’s what i tend to hear and read over the web

With that said, there are even MTG cards that are worth at least in 4 digits, and bet yet they’re banned!

to be blunt whoever has been telling you that either has no clue, or they’re MtG fans (with no clue).
note, let me be clear, i’m not giving you a judgment call on the quality of the two games, or which is better than the other.

but if we’re talking anything derived from actual sales stats as opposed to brand-devoted fans whipping around biases, as recently as 2010 a CCG market study had YGO at over 51% of the CCG market share.
          followed by Pokemon (at ~35%).
and MtG (much to the consternation of MtG fans) was a pretty distant 7.7% 3rd place.

there was a brief period in 2009 when the MtG crowd were all crowing that they thought YGO was dead, with the shenanigans between Upper Deck and Konami, but YGO has pretty much recovered since then.
and 2011, YGO had officially received the Guiness record for the best selling CCG ever, beating themselves, when Konami applied for that same record in 2009.

Dat subtitle, if I learned of it in passing it sounds like a collection of the main games.
GREE really churn these things out.

Every japanese anouncement has become like this, first excitiement and then disappointment, it amazes that the IGN guys gag has not been used too much.

Is there a way to play these games on American Smart Phones?

  • Just Tim

Cool, hope this is available via Android, now that GREE is available there.
