Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Gets Wacky With Micro Mushrooms & Star Fox Costumes

By Spencer . September 13, 2012 . 9:18am

Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition adds a touch of Nintendo to Namco Bandai’s fighting game. Mushroom Battle mode has different powerups on the battlefield like Super Mushrooms and Mega Mushrooms that make fighters grow. Mini Mushrooms shrink characters and Poison Mushrooms act like bombs.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition also has a bunch of collaboration costumes. You can dress Heihachi up as: Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Princess Peach, Link, Ganondorf, Princess Zelda, Fox McCloud, and Zero Suit Samus.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition is a launch title in Japan.

OOH the costumes look sexy. Definitely getting the Wii U version of this game now.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

LOLOLOL What am i here? A prophet lol^_^ The moment i asked for micro mushroom, they throw them to my face immediatly lol.^_^

Edit: The day Princess Zelda kicking someone ass together with Link is great there lol.^_^

    And Samus Aran….ALL MY LOVE!!!^_^

  • Kaihedgie

Oh, so that’s what Dennis Hopper’s been doin’ all these years

  • XypherCode

I like the costumes but not the shrooms.

  • Haha, the Mario and Luigi costumes where great!

  • OatMatadoQuatro

That’s one of the best Marios I have ever seen. XD

  • PreyMantis

That’s impressive! I wonder if they’ll have Kirby, Pit, Yoshi, and other Nintendo characters’ costumes? It would be beast if they have most of the SSB characters’ costumes.

  • Spirit Macardi

I might get this if the actual Nintendo characters were put in and not just their costumes.

However, since Heihachi is voiced by Jamieson Price, I now have an awesome image in my head of Lordgenome from Gurren Lagann dressed as Mario.

  • Mushrooms with stackable effects!?
The “macros” communities will go ballistic all over the place for this.

  • SantiagodelosSantos

I can play as a guy dressed as star fox? That’s all I needed to hear.
    Sold! All my money!

  • Kitestwinblades

I honestly wasn’t expecting them to get that crazy with the costumes XD

Cant let you do that, STEVE FOX!

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

I was going to get this on  ps3 yeah nvm Wii-u all the way

  • GaiunxWolfenX

sorry NO i dont want to play this if i can have heihachi dressed as ZERO suit samus!!!! O_o (i know i know am just joking) just imagine that o.O

  • MrJechgo

No Captain Falcon costume ??? Come on now…

    • pressstart

Saved for Paul Phoenix’s Hammer of God (I think that’s what it’s called).

  • XiaomuArisu

    TTT2:Wii are Tekken edition!
I always knew that Luigi is badass but that he fights like Bruc Lee…awesome

  •  The costumes are fantastic, but the fighting purist in me is more worried about how the mushrooms will effect juggle combos and such.

    • NaelAM

Wouldn’t be surprised by the mushroom mode being an option or a separate mode so the competitive crowd can play without ’em.

      •  The competitive crowd isn’t going to be playing the game on the Wii U.

        • raymk

I wouldn’t say this is true.  The competitive crowd is everywhere and the wiiU is no exception.

  • zferolie

…. And now I regret buying the PS3 version of this game… damn it namco, couldn’t you show this off a week ago!

Now I may need to cash my current one in for this one… if the Internet is good on the Wii U

    • pressstart

Well, they did announce the game back in e3 with the Heihachi and super mushroom. That’s about it.

      • zferolie

Yeah, but just that wasn’t enough to really show how amusing it was.

  • British_Otaku

Yet again, waiting for the announced Wii U-Upgraded versions pays off.
Looking forward to getting back into Tekken.

Haven’t played the games since Tekken 3. >_>

  • Anime10121

Never wanted Tekken as much as I do RIGHT NOW (and I dont even like Mario much), them shrooms make the game seem SO AMAZINGLY AWESOME!!!

  • Mario related elements especially the Mushrooms are an epic LOL.

  • Rolling Guy

Lili in ZSS suit. OH GOD. :L

I’m hoping these costumes become a DLC for the PS3 and Xbox versions. :(

    • AuraGuyChris

Sure, if Sony and Microsoft can handle the heavy lawsuits Nintendo will give to them.

  • raymk

These costumes sold me on the WiiU version as well.  Love the link and zelda costumes.

  • imagine if u can shrink azazel in tekken 6…

  • Göran Isacson

… Okay, now I don’t know if I should splurge on this game NOW, or wait until I purchase a Wii U for… this glorious game. This glorious, GLORIOUS game. Lee and Kazuya as Mario and Luigi is both so wrong, and yet oh so right. Now all I need is to dress Yoshimitsu up as Link, and my life is complete. Zelda? Either Kunimitsu or Raven, depending on my mood =3

Seriously though, I hope there are some more classic Nintendo costumes in there. Dare I dream of Captain Falcon, Pokemon? A midna-skin for Unknown? An actual armored Samus-look? One can hope!

    • Man, I agree with you dood. I’m planning to get a PS3 in summer 2013 but man, the Wii U announcements today have been going crazy today XD Makes me want to reconsider on buying the Wii U instead. But maybe I can wait… I waited 9 months to get my 3DS after its launch so the same could for the Wii U.

But buying the game first before a Wii U sounds like a nice idea — you can keep it in a nice storage place and then when the Wii U arrives, you can take it out and enjoy the game in its fully glory >:D

I’m looking forward to the Nintendo-added craziness. Mushrooms? Heihachi as Mario and Law as Luigi? Oh oh la la!

      • Göran Isacson

Buying a game first and console later seems like a plan I’m following more and more these days. It’s like everyone everywhere is waiting for price cuts to stuff like Vita and 3DS. and now the WiiU… but they’re still buying the games for those devices.
