Konami’s Kinect Powered Dancing Arcade Machine

Xbox 360 sales have never been strong in Japan, so Konami took their Dance Central style dancing game Dance Evolution and made an arcade port. Here’s a look at one of the machines…

Dance Evolution was pretty popular in Shinjuku’s Taito Station. People playing "Follow Tomorrow," perhaps in an attempt to enter Konami’s Arcade Championship later this year, drew a crowd of spectators.

Wow, this game actually looks pretty good.
Nice to see the Kinect tech being put to good use.

Would have been awesome if they released the arcade specific songs as DLC (they have PONPONPON for gods sake!) for 360 but seeing how much of a flop it was and the time passed since release that won’t happen. I’m still glad to see it do well in the arcades though. Dance Evolution is probably the most fun I have had with Kinect and it singlehandedly made my purchase of the peripheral worth it.

(btw, I wouldn’t call it “Dance Central style” aside from being on Kinect and about dancing they share very little in how they are played)

And LOL, PONPONPON is also in pop’n 21: Sunny Park!

(Read the complaints in Bemanistyle about how it’s gonna be spammed like Cable’s Viper Beam! xD)

Also, speaking of #DanEvo, one of the songs in the home console version is Night of Fire, a Super Eurobeat song legendary for its inclusion in Inital D.

This game had potential. Sucks it’s only arcade now. Bring on the DLC!

If only Kinect is as responsive as this game on Steel Batalion here.T_T

Sounds like a great way to embarass myself. One of my favorite pastimes.

Wow, this looks utterly impossible. Wish I had a Kinect to play it.
