Tales Of Xillia 2 TGS Demo Is A Spirit Hunt In A Food Factory

Namco Bandai will bring a Tales of Xillia 2 demo to Tokyo Game Show and it starts with a choice. Do you want Jude or Millia in your party? Both Tales of Xillia leads are in Tales of Xillia 2 and the decision won’t impact the story, just the Link Artes you can test out. Alvin and Elise are also in Ludger’s group.

The Tales of Xillia 2 demo is a slice from the main story and starts with an event scene featuring an important person from Tales of Xillia. This mysterious figure says people who shouldn’t exist in the real world can exist in another world.

Then the demo switches to a dungeon where you have to break into Askold Food Factory’s security system and defeat their guards to find where a great spirit is hiding. Namco Bandai designed this dungeon with different gimmicks and none of them will be in the demo. Why? The team decided to trim down the demo so players can go through it and defeat a boss within the 10 minute time limit.

In battle, you can try out Tales of Xillia 2’s Link Artes by picking a partner character and use Ludger’s transformation ability (L3 + R3) when a gauge is full. This brings all of the enemies to a different dimension where parameters like Ludger’s HP, AP, and TP are ignored.

Players can also try out the attachment system by giving Ludger glasses and an Elu backpack. These items stay on during battles and event scenes. The Tales of Xillia 2 demo also has party chat skits, little scenes where you get to to know the cast of characters better.

Mysterious Figure talking existentialism in worlds huh http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110711162033/thekingdomheartscanonfanon/images/8/8a/Mysterious_Figure.png :P

NTWays, this game looks amazing!  It seems to have taken a graphic update from Xillia, and the gameplay also looks hot from all the trailers they’ve shown. Sucks that I cant experience the demo (even though I havent played the original yet), but everything so far looks to be much more enticing than the original Xillia (although I DO want the original and cant wait for its release next year). Even the character designs in the sequel look better than the original ones.

Everyone!  Lets work together to support Xillia’s western release so this awesome series can get more releases in the west!

As long as this mysterious figure isn’t as hard a boss as THAT Mysterious Figure… and the plot doesn’t take a turn for the absurdly twisty, I’m good.

      • Anime10121

Hey, I LIKED the challenge, especially given how easy the series is proper, and the absurdly twisty only works because its KH :P

But no joke, I would not be adverse to a challenge like him in a Tales game, that even when you get to max level 255, they STILL provide a challenge (unless you break the entire system with the awesomely powerful and game breaking Thunder Surge, thus making the battle a cake walk… well a cake walk that you may have to revisit a few times)

        • Göran Isacson

Ha ha, yeah, I will admit that I like a good challenge too, but at the same time I did feel like Mysterious Figure was less a case of “learn the pattern” as it was “hammer that dodge button like a maniac and then use the one command (besides healing) that’s actually useful against him”. Except with Terra who just… man I dont even know how people beat him with Terra.

Strange thing, I’m wondering if that’s not the main problem with the Command System. On the one hand it allows for letting the player have a ton of moves, but most of the bosses in Dream Drop Distance felt like I never bothered with learning their patterns or anything. I just stocked up on my most powerful spells and blasted away, and that was how I won far too many fights. I guess that what I’m saying is that I don’t mind a challenge… I’m just skeptical that a challenge that is darn near impossible unless you use the one strategy that turns them super easy is a REAL challenge, if you know what I mean?

Well if the difficulity level is as hard as graces i wonder even you have neat stuff like infinity hp,ap and tp but still can provide you with hard challange as chaos or Hell if must

I’m more interested in why a great spirit is hiding in a food factory. Do they even get hungry?

Also, Jude looks cross-eyed in most of the screenshots, not just the cover….

  • Nitraion

Hope they bring demo to PSN too…

  • Poor Jude. I just have a feeling that most people will choose Milla on their first play through, myself included lol =P

    • akiko_sakuraba

We chose the protagonist in the first game, but in 2, Ludgar is our only choice.

      • I meant in your party. The article says you have a choice remember lol

        • XiaomuArisu

I think you have to choose for the demo…would be weird if it would be forever, especialy if its doesnt affect the story.

          • Yes, that’s what I’ve been talking about the whole time. That’s what this article is about lol

  • Awesome! Tales is the new Final Fantasy.

    • akiko_sakuraba

I loved Final Fantasy as a child, but the new ones are… Crap to me. Tales is my alternative, and what a wonderful alternative it is.

  • akiko_sakuraba

I’m going next weekend. Can’t wait to try this out, and have my copy preordered!

  • Hau To

Wait wait wait…So Jude/Milla is an either or? We can’t get both? If that’s so, will Gaius be playable or someone else not revealed? I mean…he is on the cover. Man, Ludger reminds me of a grown up Lucas.

  • Jonathan Keycross

“Fool, even though you transported us to a different dimension, I´ve got tons of HP while you on the other hand has…hey, where is your HP?!”

The amount of gears in Ludger´s transformation make me suspect that “time” is somehow related to it.

  • Demeanor

Milla forever! Milla + Alvin! Ryuukou Metsugazan!!! XD
I hope they put the demo on PSN as well, wanna try it :P

  • Jude all the way. :) Need to get a copy of this…
