Cave Aims For Simultaneous Dodonpachi Saidaioujou Release In Japan And The West

By Spencer . September 24, 2012 . 5:38pm

Dodonpachi Saidaioujou debuted in arcades this past spring. The latest entry in the series is a vertical shooter like the other Dodonpachi games with a new dress system. Wearing military clothes gives your Elemental Doll a stronger spread shot. Everyday clothes powers up your laser, a piercing attack that does more damage, but has less range. Swimsuits are in the game for expert players.

Cave is working on an Xbox 360 version of Dodonpachi Saidaioujou and it’s slated for release in spring 2013. The core gameplay is complete, but game development manager Makoto Asada has something new planned for Dodonpachi Saidaioujou. "The arrange mode is something that’s atypical of the Dodonpachi we know," Asada said to Siliconera.

image I asked him if Rising Star, which released Dodonpachi Resurrection and Akai Katana would handle Dodonpachi Saidaioujou too.

"Besides Rising Star, we are talking with another publisher who’s goal is to release Dodonpachi Saidaioujou for Xbox 360 on the same date in Japan and outside of Japan," Asada revealed.

We’re not sure who this publisher is, but dig the idea of a same day release for Dodonpachi Saidaioujou.

    They should talk this secret publisher into localizing the Daifukkatsu Black Label/Ketsuipachi disc.

    • neo_firenze

       I prefer “Daifukketsui” myself ;)

  • Zonic505

    This would be awesome if it happens. Wouldn’t mind Rising Star Games again, though I wonder who the other publisher was.

  • No

     If true, I’ll be getting both the Japanese and the Western release. I love Cave that much.

  • Spencer my man. Great news!!!

    Also: “we are talking with another publisher we are working with another potential publisher”

  • Peter Le

    Oh man, this news just made my day. I can’t wait!

  • Juuu

    Cave, I just wanna pick you up and hug you. Looking forwards to it!

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

    Hah, they have some serious nads to localize this. Goes to show that they do care for their fans.

  • They should continue expanding as they have.  I’ve mentioned this many times before for Cave and they appear to be doing just that, bit by bit.  One of the bits was porting things to Android as well as iOS.  They’ve done just that only a few weeks ago with the releases on Google Play in the West.

    PS3 and perhaps the Wii U might be two more things they might want to take under their suggestions.  The former especially.

    Looks at system….Yep knew it,i’m gonna have to miss out this time as my 360 is down for the count.

    Cave.^_^ My 360 is actually living only for you here.^_^

  • CirnoLakes

    Cave loves us.;_;

    It took so long, but Cave loves us.;_;

    I love you too, Cave.;_;

    Thank you, Based Cave.

  • Happy dance!

  •  Curious who the publisher could be, but this is great news if they can pull it off!

    Please don’t make this download-only though.

    Looking forward to hearing what they’ll do for an LE. Though it’ll probably just be the usual Arrange soundtrack + First Print DLC voucher.

    Just like with their other games, I’ll be choosing between boxarts again. :P

    • neo_firenze

      Arrange soundtrack for Saidaioujou would be a VERY awesome LE.  The OST is so, so, so great.  IMHO, by far their finest work.  I managed to get the CD, but given that it’s pretty hard to come by I’m sure the music is available somewhere on the internet.  It’s totally worth tracking down.

      And first print DLC is always pretty great.  I’d be perfectly fine with status quo for this one :)

      • AweOfShe

        Indeed. I fell in love with the SDOJ OST myself (Ran and Taiji specifically). <3 I'm jealous that you managed to get a copy of it. I tend to be a bigger fan of the arranges they release, so I'm really looking forward to what they give us for that. :) Not sure what they could do for the DLC, considering the Arcade version hasn't been out that long (Voices are the only thing that comes to mind at the moment).

    A same-day release globally for a shmup would be awesome as hell. And I wonder who the other publisher is; hopefully, their definition of “outside Japan” actually covers more than two regions.

     … Cave on Steam, perhaps? Just saying, that could be a thing that could happen.

    It is nice to hear such things from CAVE, it seems they really care about the western releases of their games. A simultaneous release would be excellent!

    I wonder who the other publishers are, because RSG was pretty good at localizing the games and their releases were full of neat bonuses. (Especially the 3 disc Deathsmiles release which wasn’t a special-super-limited-hyper-costly-annoyingly-rare-edition)
    Maybe they are talking about Aksys, with whom they already collaborated before?

  • puchinri

    Ohhh man. I’m trying to hunt down a 360 soon (at Goodwill, since everything will be half off), and this would be an even better reason to get one.

    Getting the Japanese release bitches!!!! :D
