This Week In Imports: Vita Dead Or Alive?

By Spencer . September 24, 2012 . 4:18pm

imageThe PlayStation Vita is looking strong this week with a much improved version of Earth Defense Force 3, Pentavision’s music game DJMax Technika Tune, and Ys Celceta: Sea of Trees.

Dead or Alive 5 from the new Team Ninja, Sleeping Dogs from Square Enix, and Kokuga, a shooter from the creator of Ikaruga, are set for this week too. Sleeping Dogs was only shown in trailer form at Tokyo Game Show, we’re guessing that’s because the game is rated CERO Z in Japan, which would require Square Enix or whoever had it on display to check IDs before letting people try it.

  • For a moment I thought there was gonna be a port of DoA5 then I remember this is an import new release article.

I hope Ys and Earth Defense Force does well for localizations (though not as worried for Ys given the fanbase in the West).

    I wanna play Tokyo Jungle.

  • Manny Being Manny

No mention of One Piece in the Domestic Releases? Was it delayed?

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

    KOKUGA!!! Plizz do well.^_^

  • Shiki

Yes Tecmo should release a Vita version of DOA5. Too bad they aren’t taking action…

  • Herok♞

Why do I have to be so poor much great stuff, that I will never have money for.

    • Ricardo Guedes

you dont have today, but you dont know about tomorrow…

      • Herok♞

Today, I am poor high school student and tommorrow I will be a poor high school student

  • Tokyo Jungle ftw ^^

  • imaguni

    Nice title…

  • The title was a little misleading(I thoght there was going to be a DOA 5 port for the vita).
Come on Earth Defense force and more Ys(Kokuga looks interesting, haven’t heard much about it though)

    ….Rest in Peace my wallet

  • d19xx

Here’s hoping that Ys does well. Don’t disappoint Japan…

  • Aww, I thought DoA for Vita too, I’d definitely get it if it happened.
    Also, Tokyo Jungle!!!

  • neo_firenze

First week in a while where I’ve really felt the hurt (money-wise, and time-wise).

DOA5 and Ys Celceta have been pre-ordered for a while.

And a TON of US PSN stuff that I’ll have to debate over: Marvel vs. Capcom Origins and Tokyo Jungle are musts.  Then there’s One Piece Musou, Final Fantasy III PSP, and Hell Yeah!  Not to mention I’m interested in the single player half of Starhawk that’s free for PSN Plus members.

  • TheGameTagerZ

    Misleading title

    • Testsubject909

Not entirely(?) I mean, Dead or Alive Paradise (PSP) is available on PSN for the Vita.

I feel like I should be having a troll face or something of the sort but I’m not sure…

  • negineBIT

    What’s up with the title? O_0;

    • Dead or Alive Now for Vita?
      something like this?

      • negineBIT

Am I sensing Vita hater here?

        •  not really’s just I (still) don’t have it

  • I wish there could be more fighting games on PS Vita

  • MrSirFeatherFang

It seems like Dead or Alive 5 doesn’t have much single player content, but I hope to grasp the game quickly and go online! The only fighter that’s ever made me do that was JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Hope that Half Minute Hero will do well there, and who knows, this wil allow us to get our get the second title there localized.^_^

  • KHSoraKeyBlade

The new WoW expansion is the only one I have bought this week.

    Yay pandas.

    • Sardorim

I bought it too but I’m waiting a bit before putting game time in. Blizzard always has some issue on launches for this stuff. So since I don’t care for server first and I don’t raid I’m not in any rush.

      • KHSoraKeyBlade

It took me 2hrs to get in I believe. Played for 2-3hrs then logged off. There isn’t server problems at night (maybe after 10?) but the evening is very bad. This is my first time playing an expansion at launch as well but so far so good for me. Well, besides the log in queues.

  • RaikageV

    Misleading news title is misleading.
I was like “DoA will also be released for Vita?! Cool.”
But nvm, I’m still getting it for PS3.

  • SirRichard

It was a joke about the Vita, guys, it’s not that misleading a title.

Speaking of Vita, good job on promoting that one, Konami. New Little King’s Story has just popped out of nowhere, when was that date announced? That’s one to get next payday.

    • Lester Paredes

well, when you say Vita Resident Evil, wouldn’t you think of a Resident Evil title for the Vita? It’s definitely misleading.

      • SirRichard

Well yes, but “Resident Evil” by itself doesn’t really mean anything (except, I guess “an evil lives here”). “Dead or alive” has meaning enough by itself, and the Vita hasn’t been doing well at all up until now, and it got a bunch of games this week that would give its sales a kick (in theory). It’s also a play on words because Dead Or Alive 5 was coming out.

And to get really into it the question mark makes it a simple question. It’s a joke about how the Vita’s doing with a bit of wordplay regarding the biggest release of the week, in the weekly releases article that doesn’t have anything to do with game announcements. That people take it so literally says less about the title and more about people’s expectations and perhaps their reading comprehension skills while they’re at it.

Can’t believe I can write two paragraphs explaining the ins and outs of a joke.

        • Lester Paredes

neither can I. You must be hell to deal with in debate class…. are you going to be a politician? or something that requires actual thought before the mouth is opened and general stupidity falls out…

          • SirRichard

If I were, I sure wouldn’t hire you to schedule things. Let’s see if you can get that one without help, eh?

          • Lester Paredes

Well, sir (if your name is to be believed, otherwise, please replace ‘sir’ with ‘madam’) if you are implying that i opened my  mouth and let general stupidity fall out, then i applaud your excellent observation. Otherwise, my incredibly late reply speaks volumes in regards to my time management skills.

          • SirRichard

Apparently you have no reading comprehension whatsoever, though that’s not very surprising given your other posts. Take another whack at it if you want, mate, but I think we’re done here.

  • Is anyone here going to import the Ys game for vita?

  • Sardorim

    …SD Gundam G Gen Overworld.

    Good bye life.

  • Lester Paredes

So, you pull me over here with Vita Dead or alive and mention nothing of the sort? I am so let down. I re-read the article twice!
