bg-1000-002820029Mistwalker contacted Siliconera to tell us about their second iOS game, Blade Guardian. This is a tower defense style strategy game where players place units to defend a base against an alien threat.

Blade Guardian adds a touch of motion control to the genre. If you want to strike back against the alien horde, tap on transporters to attack them. This makes transporters release BLADEs and if use gold and HP you can upgrade these units to Sphere Blades. Sphere Blades roll around the screen when you tilt your iPhone and attack alien nests they come in contact with.

Blade Guardian is slated for release on October 1 for iOS devices.

Doesn’t really look special, or different from the plethora of TD games on the App Store. I was expecting some great stuff from Mistwalker, but they’ve yet to impress me.

  • Hm. Has there been other Tower Defense games which let you attack enemy bases?

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

That would be Tower Attack lol.^_^

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

This game does not scream special for me here but it does tries to actually incorperate some sort of movement for usually very statis tower game.

No human chars :(?¬† If it’s $1.99, I might as well get it just to support the Gooch..

  • See, now this I like. Instead of just trying to shoehorn games they’ve already made onto a mobile platform, Mistwalker has actually decided to try their hand at developing an original game specifically designed for mobile phones, in a genre that has proven to be quite well suited to the platform.
