The God And Fate Revolution Paradox Resets Your Level When You Leave A Dungeon

By Spencer . September 26, 2012 . 12:17am

Nippon Ichi Software’s next PlayStation 3 game, The God and Fate Revolution Paradox, sounds like it has roguelike gameplay. Leave a dungeon and your level is reset to one! There is a separate statistic for your "total level" which continues to grow so level grinders your progress isn’t completely lost.

Dengeki PlayStation announced a few more voice actors for The God and Fate Revolution Paradox too.

Renya (the protagonist in a suit looking leftwards) – Satoshi Hino

Rekiel (the blonde guy with glasses on the left) – Noriaki Sugiyama

Galcion (the scruffy dude with light brown hair next to Rekiel) – Akihito Kimura

    so like ZHP then?

    • Xerain

The Disgaea + Roguelike fusion they use in ZHP works so beautifully I’m surprised it took them this long to make another game using it.

  • Raze

I see Roxis from Mana Khemia lol…

    ZHP style eh…
    No Problemo…

  • Silver Citizen

Well, killed my hype. I was never a fan of roguelikes. It’s too bad because I really liked the character designs.

So, it has a ZHP style leveling system, interesting. I really liked ZHP (probably one of my favorite PSP games) so if this game plays like it, I’d be ok with it. Guess we’ll just have to wait for some screenshots of the gameplay to find out how much in common GFRP has with ZHP.

I’m not sure how I feel about this. I guess it could be good. I’ve never played ZHP though.

It’s definitely worth a shot. It’s a roguelike with those classic NIS elements in it (like throwing enemies), a lot of that tongue-in-cheek Disgaea style humor as well. The theme of the game is based on those Kamen Rider/Super Sentai type shows. If you’re lucky and manage to find it at Gamestop, it should only be 20 bucks or less.

  • Go2hell66

interesting, never seen anything like this in a game before
haven’t played zhp, might have to go back and give it a play through

  • Roguelike gameplay you say? Ok, I’m interested.

    • Testsubject909

I’ll be honest, the only reason I’m reading this article is because I saw someone (you) say roguelike gameplay in the Recent Comments section.

      • Well, mate, we can only hope it’ll turn out into some we both have a penchant for then.

  • Draparde

I loved ZHP so this is wonderful news to me~!

  • Nice to see ZHP leveling system being used here, very interested on how it will work since the gameplay won’t be like it (in a sense maybe)

  • because you always forget how to swing a sword when you leave a dungeon~

  • Göran Isacson

I see some people comparing this to the ZHP-game, and I must admit I’m curious now: what IS that game like? If you regress to level 1 every time you leave a dungeon, what DOES stick between sessions?

    • Safros9

Your base stats increase. Your items are kept, if you don’t die. Pretty much all equipment can be used to increase your stats even more outside of a dungeon, this is done by… um… well, you just take a piece of equipment and surgically implant it on your body. A stat will go up if you do this. And that’s all that I can remember.

I love roguelikes, so this sounds interesting :D

This game is looking great! gonna preorder a JP copy soon :)

  •  ZHP is so overlooked! hope it has the same type of gameplay.
     Rougelike games are such fun.

  • This is really sounding good. I can’t wait to see it in action.

  • Demeanor

Come to think of it, among my endless list of unfinished games there’s also ZHP, great fun and great soundtrack, gotta get back to it once I’m done with VC3. I’m curious how they’ll integrate ZHP leveling with this title.
Also, this game should win the “Cutest Maid Characters” award! XD

  • I’m sorry, did someone say “Z.H.P. on a larger scale”? COUNT. ME. IN!!!
