Toukiden, Omega Force’s PSP/Vita Game, Is About Killing Giant Demons

By Spencer . October 3, 2012 . 12:29am

imageAt the Tokyo PlayStation press conference, Sony announced Toukiden from Tecmo Koei and Dynasty Warriors developer Omega Force with a teaser trailer.

Hisashi Koinuma who is in charge of the Warriors series at Tecmo Koei and Kono from Sony Computer Entertainment Japan spoke to Famitsu about Toukiden. The game, Koinuma says, won’t be like Dynasty Warriors. Players will fight giant demons in Toukiden. There will be different demons in Toukiden and you play as a warrior. He said "crush," "go through," and "slice" are keywords for the game.

Sony is cooperating with Tecmo Koei and supporting this project on a technical level. Toukiden will be released for PlayStation Vita and PSP in 2013, but not too late in 201 says Famitsu.

    Not too late in 201?
That would be an odd choice of year to release it.

To think that Koei exist around 200 A.D there.^_^

Won’t be like Dynasty Warrior…… sees, Crush , Go through, Slice…….. i can’t picture anything other than Musou style here.T_T

It’s interesting to see Omega Force explore new type of action games, I hope Koei localizes at least the Vita version.

PSP and Vita?  Welp.  Looks like another game isn’t getting localized.  You heard it here first.

PSP is definitely out for sure in the West.

Army Corps of Hell was for both PSP and Vita, that got localized. Sony is pushing for Japanese games to be released internationally.

What you say is quite interesting since Army Corps of Hell was never a PSP game.

I guess Sony dropped the ball on Type 0 though.  So much for the international push.

Perhaps jose had some confusion… While Army Corps of Hell was indeed Vita-only (and got an international release), Square-Enix also released Lord of Apocalypse for both Vita and PSP.  Neither version left Japan though.

            Exactly.

“Crush”, “Go Through”, and “Slice” strangely reminds me of From Software’s Otogi, a series I wish they would remake or rerelease outside of the xbox. If this game becomes anything like Otogi that would be awesome…

Oh man, how I WISH that this game could be like Otogi. It’s been years now and I still haven’t really found a game that feels like it lets me do the things that Otogi let me do.

Sound to me like another Monhun clone…

Could the surge of this genre on Sony handhelds be another reason for Monhun’s absence that capcom considered? Wouldn’t surprise me…

    • malek86

If anything, it could be the opposite. Other companies are trying to take advantage of Capcom’s absence from the system to try and establish themselves on the PSV. The lack of competition might make it easier, cause on the 3DS they would need to deal with Monster Hunter instead.

I think this is also why Namco is sticking with PSP/PSV for God Eater 2.

      • ronin4life

        That makes sense.
