Atlus Will Release 4-5 Games Between Now And August 2013, Like Dragon’s Crown

By Spencer . October 23, 2012 . 1:35am

imageIndex Holdings, the parent company of Atlus, announced their plan for the current fiscal year (September 2012 to August 2013) is to focus on expanding fans with high quality games.

Atlus will release between four to five packaged titles during that time period. Shin Megami Tensei IV, the first numbered sequel in the SMT series in about nine years, and Dragon’s Crown are two of those titles. Atlus and Vanillaware worked on Odin Sphere earlier which sold 400,000 units worldwide.

SMT IV and Dragon’s Crown are definitely a must-buy for me, though I’m really curious what the two to three other titles are.

    • Curan_Altea

Me too. I’m sure many people, me included, are hoping for something Persona.

      • Kibbitz

Not a huge Persona fan, having played only P3P. I really wanted to pick up P4G , but I really need to hold back after burning a lot this year. That being said, I would welcome a new Persona too, though preferably for the PS3. I’ll take it on PSV as well but that would really mean quite a wait for me as I wait for the accumulated financial damage to be repaired first =x

  • Oh then we’ll be seeing some new stuff on Dragon’s Crown soon : O sweet

  • Dragon’s Crown, hell yeah!

  • Unlimax

    INCOMING . . . PERSONA 5 ❤ !

  • gonna be an interesting year

  • Herok♞

I think before Persona 5 have we will see the end of Persona 4 Arena’s plot because one of the appeals of the main persona games is the star new characters with only just references to the old games or a character in the party, I would hate if they turned P5 into P4-2 in all but name.

  • A new SMT game is all I need Atlus. I’m super ready for SMT IV.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Hmm… considering the release we know now. SMT and Dragon Crown is sure there.

I wondered if Zeno Clash is one of the 5 games there. And also with all the rumor for Persona 4 Arena coming to Vita, i would said that is four there.^_^

For the last one maybe we will get a new IP? Or maybe they will give us continuation for Nooro to Koku game there.^_^

    • What’s up with your comments dude it always has “here” and “there” in every sentence. :/

      • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

        I love here and there?^_^

    • it will be very dissapointing if one of the unannounced game is only a port >.<
i hope it will be all new title or sequel XD

      • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Port is the easist work so i can imagine one of the game will actually be port.^_^

    • Elvick

I really would love Persona 4: Arena on my PS Vita. Blazblue is winsauce on there.

  • Persona 5 for 3DS
    Trauma Center WiiU
    Port for Vita

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

The first one there will cause another Bayonetta fiasco lol.^_^

    • Persona 5 for 3DS
      hehehe that’s a good one~

      • LightZero

Seeing how there is an unannounced Persona title for the 3DS and how popular the system is especially in Japan I wouldn’t laugh if I was you.

        • Niyari

They’ve already implied P5 is going to be for PS3 after developing Catherine.

          •  For me it’s okay whether it was 3DS or PS3, as long it  localized XD

          • LightZero

They haven’t truly implied anything yet. They just said they are building a brand new engine for P5 instead of reusing Catherine’s. That engine could be used for anything. Right now I say there’s a 50/50 chance it will be on the PS3/360 (maybe Wii U as well) just like Catherine and P4A before it. There is also a chance it could be on the 3DS given how popular it is in Japan plus it seems like it will be Atlus’ new go to system for games since we have three megaten for it. Along with an unannounced Persona title which could be anything or nothing at all.

          • sherimae1324

youre a nintendo fanboy oni-chan im not in a good mood today so please stop being like a analyst that speculates and analyzes things about games and platforms ok

  • MrJechgo

    – Trauma Team for Wii U
    – Persona 4 Arena 2 for PS3/360/Wii U
    – Persona 5 for PS3/360/Wii U/3DS/Vita

    Pretty please ?

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

I would love a new Trauma Center series for 3DS though.^_^ After all, Trauma Center first started on DS there and playing with stylus is probably the best way for playing that game.

    • 3DS is a gross choice for Persona 5 as that would mean the game would have to be developed around that platform’s limitations and then upscaled onto everything else.

You’re also missing the pretty much inevitable Persona 4: Arena on Vita.  Persona 4: Golden sold very well on Vita, and Arc Systems Work has ported their games flawlessly to that hardware in the past.

      • Aside from graphics most JRPGs aren’t pushing the technical side of any system. They could all essentially be done on a PS1/PS2. I’m pretty sure the 3DS could handle a Persona. I’m expecting Persona 5 just to be a prettier version of 3/4 and the 3DS could easily handle that.

But whatever, I don’t really care what platform it’s on.

        • Tianyu Wei

I highly doubt P4G would be the same on 3DS… There is not a single game that looks better than P4G on 3DS… And Vita can push even higher than that.

Let’s not forget that 3DS game cards are 1-8 Gbits only which means 1 Gigabyte large max for games, and P4G’s PSN version is nearly 2Gb….

So no, it won’t be the same at all. Contents will have to be cut, music, scenes, graphics ALL have to be tone down.

          • LightZero

Um…yes there are. P4 wasn’t even the best looking PS2 game. The 3DS is on par with the Wii. The Wii beyond the PS2 in power. Kid Icarus, KH3D, and RE:R are three games that looks better than P4G. There are plenty of others.

P4G would easily work on the 3DS. The only thing that could be an issue is the carts space. I don’t know much about tech but Atlus could make the game work.

          • I have to disagree with you, none of the games you mentioned look better than P4G, of course what looks better is subjective(“beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder “) what you see as better others see as worse.

In my opinion 3D ruins alot of games for me, I don’t whant this to turn into a very long post so I’ll end it there.

          • kylehyde

Wrong, the 3DS cards range from 2 GB to 8 GB not Gb(gigabits) like the DS cards. Residen Evil Revelations use a 4 GB card.

also from words of the same Christian Svensson

          • How can one person have so many facts wrong, all in the same post?

      • LightZero

Atlus never been known for their graphics. Plus there is still an unannounced Persona title for the 3DS. So far the unannounced Devil Survivor and SMT turn out to be an actual game. Now it would downscale if they develop for the PS3/360 in mind. However, if they make it with the 3DS in mind it work easily.

Honestly, I rather not see a P4A2. I like the game but a story sequel would not work without it being ridiculous and force. I rather they just leave it as a standalone while making an actual megaten fighter.

  • Godmars

    Finally seeing Dragon’s Crown!

  • New Dept. Heaven Episode?

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

      Knights in GoodDream?^_^

      • … What?

        • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

          Opposite of Knights in Nightmare?^_^

  • Soul Hackers please?

  • Smashlampjaw

Persona 5 info this year would be nice

    • Brimfyre

I had a dream last night about Persona 5 somehow involving both the female and male protags from Persona 3 and P3P as some kind of God figure, both ripped from their respective places in the Amala network and thrown together for some grand scheme.

Which I believe Gemini falls under the Lovers Arcana, so I guess that would be their S.Link.

    • LightZero

I think there will be P5 info sometime next year. They are just going to wait until SMT4 is release so it wouldn’t steal its thunder.

  • Nitraion

Oh please please Shin megami tensei game on Console….
    please console… console…
    i say three times because it’s important….

    •  I think we can safely expect P5 to be on a home console. If they make it multi-platform, I’m hoping for some PC love for SMT.

      • Nitraion

As long it have console homeship i don’t care….
i want to play new console SMT games again…

    • LightZero

Make console gaming popular in Japan and cheaper to develop for a niche company like Atlus then you would get your wish. P5 is the only one that has a shot since Persona is unfortunately the only series the majority cares about. Personally I’m disappointed with the consoles this gen as a jrpg fan whereas I’m falling in love with my 3DS.

      • Whats making you fall for the 3DS?(This is a serious question no sarcasm implied)
I  seriously haven’t touched it in about 2 months maybe more(I played the new KH after that nothing could hold my interest on the system)

        • It can play physical NDS games

          • so whats the point of a 3DS if I can just play all the games I need on the old cheaper one?(I already have one but I just need more to go on instead of backwards compatibility)

          • why dont you just sell your 3ds if you dont like it then
it will be better that way

        • LightZero

It reminds me of the PS2. The PS2 along with the PS1 is my all time favorite systems. It has the same sort of potential and the games are slowly making this a reality. It getting the games I want that the PS3/360/Wii have been lacking. And this is just the first year. It hasn’t even reach its prime yet. Nintendo had a rough start with the 3DS, but now I feel they are doing everything right.

        • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Maybe because the game offered on 3DS does not suit ur taste? Code of Princess, Style Savvy, Layton is enough to make stick to my 3DS like everyday lol.^_^

It all comes to the point how many games or genres that you can accept/love. I played almost all genre even fishing genre which is why i feel 3DS had a helluva of library.

          • I was actually hoping to get some reccomendations of good 3DS games.(everytime I ask someone they say Mario, which I prefer the old mario on my Gameboy color*Yep I still have one*)

I mainly play SMT games, Luminous arc 1 and 2, thinking about trying Rune factory.

never tryed layton or code of princess, how are they?

I don’t really have a “taste” if it looks good, plays good, and has a good story I’m usually fine.

          • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Hahaha. It seems you ask wrong person then.^_^ If you asked me, i would rarely suggest Mario as all person who owned 3DS will already consider Mario, Zelda or even Pokemon there.^_^

If you ever played X-COM, you would love to try Tom Clancy Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars as unlike what we thought, it is tactic games with X-COM element. Not to mention it is make by the same creator.^_^

Code of Princess is a nice simple 2D Beat em up game like Bare Knuckle or even Golden Axe.^_^ If you love that genre, you will surely fall in love with this game. This game also allowed Online play that will allow you to play co-op or even at least vs againts other.^_^

Layton is a puzzle game with many creative puzzle game. The story in the game is also very nice for a puzzle game that make this franchise spawn a lot of continuation already.^_^ For this one also, you will get 365 free DLC puzzle each day after the game release so it will be one of the best deal you can get.^_^

For SMT type of game, Devil Survivor Overclocked would be the one i can think here.

But if you love 2d hardcore platforming, you should give “Shinobi” 3D a try. Even though the game had a bit unusual graphics, the game is probably one of the funnest game i have played in my 3DS even more that Kid Icarus Uprising lol.

Hope you can enjoy more game on your 3DS there.^_^ If you have any more question, you can just post here lol.

          • Thanks for the great recommendations. :)

I’ll be sure to lok into these games.

      • Nitraion

Yeah, i kinda agree with you but i just don’t like SMT’s 3DS game i just don’t like first person dungeon crawler based game and their 3DS game always do that… :( so please back to new 3D game please…?

        • SMTIV isn’t a first-person dungeon crawler…

          • Nitraion

But the battle system sadly yes.. i like the trailer though about explore…
Haha “first-person dungeon crawler” my desire and my words are twisted XD… good one ishaan

  • Alex Cattaneo

Awesome! Plz put dragons crown also physical on ps3 and psv ow and dont forget Maramusa

  • riceisnice

    Trauma Team sequel?

    • I think that ship has sailed. :(

  • Tianyu Wei

I am predicting Persona 5 to be primarily Vita platform (made with VITA spec in mind) but able to play on PS3…

    • LightZero

I highly doubt it. At best it would be PS3/360/Vita multi-plat. They won’t put it on the Vita exclusively. They would more likely to put it on the 3DS exclusively than the Vita given how much a flop the system currently is.

      • CountMarth92

The vita is not a flop, STFU dude.

        • He’s not saying it’s a flop just that its doing terribly right now.(at least thats what I think hes implying)

The vita will probably do better as time passes after…

          1.Gets more games

          2.Price drop

3.Sony gets off there @ss’s and promotes there own system.

But I will say that I seriously doubt a 3DS exclusive, unnanounced title or not(pretty sure that went to soul hackers but who knows)

          • LightZero

Exactly that why I said currently. The Vita is doing worst than the PSP at this same point at the time. The DC outsold it in Japan at this same point in time. Hell even the 3DS when it was $250 sold better. Many third party developers are unsure of the Vita. The system does need better games but at the same time they are afraid of taking a risk given how badly it’s doing. That’s the catch 22. It doesn’t help that Sony isn’t even trying and they are just phoning it in.

          • sherimae1324

and what is the state of DS right now oni-chan? against the PSP today there’s no more games for it ^_^ while the PSP has moooooore alot of games to come ^_^ this site is the sole evidence just visit ds and psp section

  • I’m waiting for a LE/CE announce for Dragon’s Crown… come on Sorceress or Amazon figure! (soundtrack and art book more likely I know)

  • LightZero

I would definitely like to have Soul Hackers, EP (PSP), and SMT4 localize. P5 is of a lesser importance to me than those 3 games.

  • Now this is good news. Thank you ATLUS =)

  • Ethan_Twain

Okay, so we have three unannounced Atlus titles that will release in Japan this next fiscal year or shortly after.  Considering the delay between Japanese release and localization for most Atlus titles, I wouldn’t hold my breath expecting any of these unannounced games everyone is speculating about for a good long time.  We already know for the fiscal year in the US they’re releasing Persona 4 Golden, Etrian Odyssey IV, and probably (but not definitely) SMT: Soul Hackers.  There’s also the possibility that Atlus might be working on the Persona 2 remake that hasn’t been released internationally yet.

So just keep in mind that what’s listed here is not going to leave Japan for quite awhile.  Atlus USA already has plenty of projects from the previous fiscal year to be plugging away on.  Really the only game I can think of that would get an expedited localization would be SMT IV.  Atlus proved with P4A that they can do near simultaneous release internationally, but I wouldn’t expect to see that for any but their very biggest games.  SMT IV may not even qualify, that honor might be reserved for Persona games only.

  • Unknown

I really wanna see more of Dragon’s Crown, I can’t get enough of George Kamitani’s art

  • Göran Isacson

Dragon’s Crown… it still exists? Wonder of all wonders! As for the unmentioned 3, the only piece of speculation I’m going to trot out is that I personally don’t believe a Persona 5 will be one of them. Not based so much on logic as gut-feeling: it feels like they’re going to maybe see how far they can take the P4 story with the Arena-side games before moving onto 5.

  • darkfox1

ATLUS is that company! I really like them for some reason.

  • KiTA

I’m more interested in if Atlus USA is going to release Persona 2 EP PSP.  It’ll be a darned shame if we miss out on it.

  • Ninten

Come on people, when you have SMT4 announced, not even Persona 5 can hold a candle next to it.

  • I’m only interested in SMT4 and Soul Hackers (and thinking about it, I would like P5 too). But it seems in Atlus’s world view, the european regions don’t exist (being Japan/US centric) so who knows when those games will come to the European regions (will have to get picked up by someone like Ghostlight – eg Devil Survivor Overclocked, came out Aug 2011, Ghostlight picked it up earlier this year, its due to be released either November or December, so that’s almost 15 or so months after its US release! Yet companies like NIS don’t seem to have any problems releasing their games in the European regions??)

  • Elvick

Hopefully one of them is Persona 2: EP for PSP. I want it on my shelf damn it.
