Square Enix and GREE are getting together to make a social game tied to World Ends With You series. The World Ends With You Live Remix takes place in a parallel world, Famitsu explains. The magazine also introduced a new kid Reaper.

The World Ends With You Live Remix comes out for iPhone and Android this winter.

Alright… Well, it is what it is. Hopefully I’ll enjoy it if get the chance to play it.

.takes out my popcorn. Alright lets do this

    • Godmars

What? Get salt oil and popcorn kernels on you keyboard? Your iPhone?

  • Steven Boivin

Are we talking new parallel world or is this the same world than in Another Day?

  • Ethan_Twain

No Square Enix!  No!  You must stop doing this!  No more parallel worlds, alternate dimensions, dream states, different time streams…  This has gotten ridiculous.  Your penchant for coming up with excuses to re-use fan favorite characters and assets is becoming as all encompassing as your penchant for ridiculous titles (I still think they’ll make a Dream Drop Distance Double by the way.  That alliteration and awkward way around saying “2″ are just so Square Enix).

Wait what?  The platform?  No, I don’t care about that.  Make the games you want on the platforms you want.  But make NEW games!

It is funny you say that considering parallel dimensions were confirmed in the original TWEWY. They are doing nothing but expanding on the concepts they had present in the original.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

Neku is evil with goatee in this parallel world?

  • MrTyrant

This and lightning story make me hate SE so much. They still own other good titles though.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

Not entirely sure what those game did to your family :/

      • natchu96

I guess he’s mad that SE is basically milking every recent game they own dry when we’ve already seen it all for years?

        • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

Every company milk their series, ubisoft with assassin creed, activision with call of duty, capcom with resident evil and street fighter, EA with fifa or every other sports game…whatever!

All this is to me is new games for me to play, I could care less wherever they are making money from it or not, just give me a game I would enjoy.

          • Göran Isacson

Well yes, those companies do it… and it lessens their franchises because it makes each game less and less special and more and more repetitive. Increased production of games means each game is given less and less time to be truly polished and shine. It’s all well and good to have new games to play, but when it comes obvious that you could have gotten BETTER games if the companies hadn’t milked the franchises, well… it’s not that hard to understand why some would be skeptical of these titles, is it?

          • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

“Well yes, those companies do it… and it lessens their franchises because it makes each game less and less special and more and more repetitive.”
I say otherwise, games like assassin’s creed are fantastic with every new game.

“but when it comes obvious that you could have gotten BETTER games”
Could have. I can’t say much more here

“it’s not that hard to understand why some would be skeptical of these titles, is it?”
I completely understand that they want new game but complaining about it won’t do any good like those people who are petitioning for Type-0 localisation. Just let developer make their games and if they think it will make them money, let them make money. If you don’t like their approach then go support another developer and so on. Just don’t complain as if it would make any difference. Making new franchise isn’t always the best thing to do nowadays.

          • Tien Ron

i agree with kaishou, people need to stop seeing everything re release as come cash point for companies, remember there companies always has been always will be. they make games for money. but they do it so others can enjoy. simply fact
if we don’t buy their games they get closed down and we wont here from them again then what will fans do? a perdition to get the company back? lol

          • Göran Isacson

“Just let developer make their games and if they think it will make them
money, let them make money. If you don’t like their approach then go
support another developer and so on. Just don’t complain as if it would
            make any difference.”

I dunno, there isn’t any conclusive research that proves that supporting other companies with your money is better than complaining. Sure, perhaps THIS is not the forum where said communication needs to take place, an official forum would be better, but complaints ARE a big part of what’s moving butts and getting developers attention- if you’re NOT buying something, then you really don’t matter to them. But if you are giving them money, well, then they would want to keep you as a paying costumer, wouldn’t they?

            You forgot ATLUS and Persona.

          • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

I categorize that or simply “persona 4″ as whatever.

    We are most likely not getting it anyway and its not even made for you ==;

  • Göran Isacson

Yeah, not putting a lot of hopes on this game being anywhere near as engaging as the original. But whatever, they gotta put out something to make the coin-counters at the corporate top  see this franchises potential so… I guess I’ll just have to hope this ends up selling decently.

  • PersonaBull

At least they aren’t leaving Android out in the cold this time /:

    • M’iau M’iaut

Nice to see you posting again.

      • PersonaBull

         Ow, my heart~<3

  • Maia Kasoya

I’m guessing this takes place in Another Another Day, right?

  • Setsu Oh

YAY YET ANOTHER NON COMMITAL SEQUEL! why would i buy it if they can t make a real sequel? do they suck that bad at making stories they cant even iterate on an original game?you d think they would at least wait for the franchise to be established to make a mock sequel, but nope. first sequel right out the gate isn t canon. NICE square , looks like you havent forgoten your ways.
actually explains why xenogears was rereleased as is without any correction of the second cd. you d think by now it would cost next to nothing to add thirty hours to it…..

    • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

GREE is rather popular in Japan. People in Japan is their targeted audience, not YOU or anyone else outside Japan. Stop whining about Square Enix and go with the flow. If you don’t like it, leave it.

Unrelated to the article but Setsu Oh, please proofread what you just wrote because I barely got what you just said there.

    • http://wiredjungle.wordpress.com/ DrakosAmatras

I don’t see any specification in the article that this is supposed to be a sequel. This is just another non-canon/alternate-story GREE mobile social game.
