Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Sells 840,000 Units, Snoop Lion Probably Pleased

By Spencer . November 2, 2012 . 12:34am

Somewhere out there Snoop Lion is celebrating with a panda vs. dinosaur fight because Tekken Tag Tournament 2 sold 840,000 units since the game launched on September 11 to September 30 when Namco Bandai’s second fiscal quarter ended. Not too shabby especially since the game will reappear as a Wii U launch title this month.

Taiko Drum Master: The Little Dragon and the Mysterious Orb was another key title for Namco Bandai with 270,000 copies of the Nintendo 3DS music game sold. SD Gundam G Generation Over World for PSP sold 260,000 units.

Soulcalibur V and Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm generations are both over the magic million mark. Namco Bandai moved 680,000 units worldwide in the first half of of fiscal year 2013, which brings Soulcalibur V to 1,380,000. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations sold 550,000 units between April and the end of September for a total of 1,010,000 units.

  • Soul Calibur V feels like the kid who isn’t getting any attention because his parents like another sibling more >_<

TTT2 is like "We have a bazillion characters! o/"

SCIV is like "We lost Zasalamel, Amy, all of our Korean characters (Hwang, Yun, Mi-Na), Rock, killed Setsuka and Sophitia, replaced Yoshi with Yoshi II, not sure where Cassandra is, replaced your large boob'd ninja with a delicious pettan ninja.. Have just a portion of the story made and abandoned DLC. Replaced Kilik with an annoying brat, replaced Xiang with an annoying brat that I fap to, enjoy!

    *cries in a corner*

    • Yeah, it is a sad day when they did this to my favorite fighting game series.

    • fullvernian

They have done that to tekken too, remember Tekken 4? No Baek, no Anna, no Bruce, no Jun, no Forest, no juggle, etc.

Besides, the SoulCalibur series needed some changes to keep it interesting, and I expect T7 to get that same treatment.

      • God, keep the comment sections E-rated, people! You’re already given the Open Thread!

           Sorry was just joking.
          I will keep myself restricted.

          • I will enjoy the images in the meantime, lol

Also NO TALIM?! She was a fan favorite! And she’s a first Filipino fighter in fighting games like this and now she is removed?! Some Filipino SC fans mourn the loss of our gentle yet tough fighter like her.
But at least we have a Philippines Stage in TTT2. Still I’m gonna miss her though T-T

    Kuma knows he likes it

  • fullvernian

that’s only for the EU/Japan region.
I wonder why they left out the US region. If we are going to guess the number for the US, it’s somewhere in between 300-400k, so that makes it a total of 1.1m+ worldwide.

And congrats to SCV, it grossed 1.38m copies since its launch on january this year.

  • Göran Isacson

Not too shabby indeed. Makes one wonder why I for some reason got the impression this didn’t sell very well… think I’ve seen a couple of discussions where people seemed to think that this undersold, for some reason? Anyone out there who can tell me how much of the shipments sold through and and what Namco’s projected sales expectations were?

    • raymk

The projected sells are 2 million I guess until Feb for TTT2. It’ll get there over time especially with the wiiU verison.(unless its not part of the sales forcast)

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

While i see Tekken and SC is not doing as good as what they should be, Taiko series and SD Gundam did really well there.

I even thought Taiko is still around early 200k but now they are close 300k already. It is only to be matter of time before they reached 300k.^_^

  • SC5 sales are a testament to the power of Ivy’s boobs! They can remove as many classic characters and single player features as they want, as long as there are boobs the series has a future.

  • RablaAndrews

Yeah I changed his terrid song to have the stage play ‘Best Friends’ from Persona 4 Arena.
