  • This should be “Reborn” on the Wii U, eventually. It’d be perfect with the GamePad. I don’t hate on other console makers, they are just fine and I even own a PS3, but the world is always a better place when Final Fantasies are on Nintendo systems.

    • asch999

For me the world is better place when Final Fantasy was still on Sony console only, back the days when Playing FFVII – XII on PS1 n PS2

Since both of you are quite new here, let me inform you that we don’t like childish scuffles on this site, like console wars. Plus, we also don’t allow console requests, part of the reason being that they can also lead to console wars. So I would appreciate it if you two would keep that in mind for the future.

        • asch999

Don’t judge people by their appearance, Just because I rarely post doesn’t means I new here. And I never intend to started doing something idiotic like console wars since I own Both Sony and Nintendo Hardware, Just voicing my opinion

          • Very well, as long as there are no pointless arguments.

    • Akuosa

Keep that gamepad out of my videogames.

  • Tianyu Wei

    This. Is. Sick.

  • Oni123

Liking the look of new Gridarnia, i can see some familiar places but it looks much more alive than it used to. can’t wait to see what the other area’s are like. Poor mail mog! O.o

  • Enma_Kozato

That delivery moogle is so adorable hnnnnnnnnng

  • This alpha version is looking good! Can’t wait to see the beta version.

That Moogle looked like it had a great night the day before, probably still hungover from it, too. :D

  • Meintje Diepstraten

    It’s Gridania, not Gridarnia.
I’m glad to see it looks a lot more colourful than before, but still recognizable. Seeing just green all the time was starting to get a bit boring.

  • solid278

So…. Uematsu’s wonderful Gridania theme (and who knows how many others)  is just… gone? Disappeared from the face of gaming? Man, I am WAY too sentimental for MMORPGs.

    • neo_firenze

Well, at least it will always be accessible on the soundtrack.  Which is even available on US iTunes.

I decided that FFXIV v1.x was not for me long ago, but I did get that soundtrack so I can continue to appreciate the music!

      • solid278

Yeah, thankfully we have that at least. There’s still a bunch of event music that has not been officially released yet. I do wonder what’s going to happen to that…

That said, it just bugs me that the old FFXIV is just… gone. I’m not bemoaning the loss of a great game, because it was anything but, I’m upset at the nature of the MMO, that games can just disappear, without the possibility of their ever being emulated. In ten years, will I be able to boot up FFXI again?

Sigh like I said, I’m just too sentimental for MMOs >.<

        • revenent hell

          You are to cute!
Thats part of the many reasons I dont play MMO’s. Years from now you never know what may happen with the game for better or worse or even if it will be able to be played, yeah I know to thats  just how the MMO world rolls but thats why I also wished MMO’s would actively put in,in a way, an offline ellement to it them….like a semi watered down version of the online game….with only new areas and such and such being available via the pay plan I personally would buy a lot of them if they had that aspect to them and you never know it might make someone pay to go online with it since thats where the full game would come in to play. Blah ive thought about this way to much and im begining to ramble….

          • solid278

I do have hope that once FFXI is finally over, modders (somehow) make a custom gameworld. It won’t be the same, but at least the world, which took so long for so many people to make, and so many were able to experience, would still be able to enjoy it. Maybe the same thing will happen to post- and pre-FFXIV Realm Reborn once that’s over and done with? Of course, the nature of the game makes such a private server type of thing virtually impossible… sigh.

          • revenent hell

Thinking to much in to it hu? :)
The online games are the only FF games I dont own…..Though ive terribley wanted them I just cant bring myself to do so.

  • badmoogle

This kinda reminded me of the Hobbit theme from the LOTR movies. :/

    • solid278

Oh interesting. I’m not saying the new piece is bad (were you even implying that I was?), just that the idea of it totally replacing another piece of music, permanently, frustrates me. I wonder what Uematsu thinks >.> I can see why they changed it though. As amazing as that theme was, it doesn’t quite fit the feel they seem to be going for now.

That said, as an unabashed Uematsu fanboy, I do prefer his theme to the new one, even if it didn’t fit :p the new one sounds like Mizuta maybe? It reminds me a bit of Windurst’s theme.

      • The OST is A Realm Reborn is almost completely new. They’re probably will be rearranging some of Uematsu themes here and there, but Soken is making the music now.

        • solid278

Oh yeah? I did not realize that Soken was working on it exclusively. I figured they would stick with him, Mizuta and Sekito, as they’ve been doing for the last year or so of expansions.

  • CirnoLakes

Gridania, my hometown! It looks like Gridania. They didn’t just toss out all of the old design and places I liked. Also, it looks like there is fall colours. Perhaps the game will have seasonal effects? The Japanese beloved “four seasons”.

It looks great. I didn’t get to see all of Gridania, but I assume that all of the nice places are still there.

The only complaint I have is that I like the old music better in all honesty.

    • neo_firenze

The Gridania music is pretty much the only thing I get nostalgic for from FFXIV.  Quit the game and went back to FFXI, but I’ll still get that music in my head fairly regularly.

  • Wow this looks beautiful. Square sure does enjoy teasing us lol. Cant wait to play it.

  • Budgiecat

    I have the controller

  • le0nel

Love how it looks! Undoubtedly, every bit of footage showing FFXIV’s overhaul gets me a little more excited. Hopefully it turns out well.

On another note, I can’t help but feel they chose this footage for the same reason I can’t stop looking between their legs.

Looks phenomenal, congratulations Square ;) .
