Do You Want Half-Minute Hero 2 For PC? Marvelous AQL Wants To Know

In Japan, Marvelous AQL released two Half-Minute Hero games on PSP. The second game hasn’t been localized… yet. Marvelous AQL is gauging interest in bringing the game to the West, probably as a Steam release like Half-Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax Ultimate Boy.

Half-Minute Hero 2 has a new story, but it’s just Hero 30 mode. There’s a level editor and more emotional moments like the "Sasha" twist in Half-Minute Hero. Producer Kenichiro Takaki talked to Siliconera about designing the game and explained how the new heroes connect to each other.

If you want to see Half-Minute Hero 2 overseas tell Marvelous AQL by voting here.

    YES PLZ

  • http://www.siliconera.com Jenni

Absolutely, thought I wish it would be the PSN version instead so I could have Half Minute Hero 2 on my Vita. I’ll buy it either way, naturally. ;D

  • Gohobojoe

    Yes. DO EET NOW.

  • Foryth

Voted!  I have both the XBLA and the PSP versions of the first game and I would buy this in a heartbeat. (though I admit I’ve barely played the XBLA version)

  • TiamatNM

does voting more than once work?  I tried and I can’t tell lol

  • http://theadventuresofjejun.blogspot.com/ Jejun

Absolutely I would.  I quite like the PC version of the first game.  Is there any word on how it’s done on Steam?

  • Elvick

Rather have it on my PSP and/or PS Vita through b/c.

  • Kevin Tan

Steam like the first game?  YES PLEASE.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Is there even a need for question?^_^

  • AweOfShe

Considering I bought every English release of the first one, my vote’s a given. ;)

  • CirnoLakes

    Yes! Yes!

Do you even need to ask?

  • Colonel Custard

    HHHNNNNNNGGG that Sasha moment.

  • Cephrien_Takusukai

YES. A GAZILLION BILLION TIMES YES.

I’ve been waiting for this game for so long.

  • Draparde

I’d love it. the first game was highly addictive~ (and the first time i played it was on its steam release! )

  • Go2hell66

    Hellz yes!

  • JustThisOne

Outta curiousity, does anyone even vote “No” on these? Naturally, if you don’t want to vote yes, it’d be easier just to not vote at all, right? :I

    • brian yep

      Excellent question.
I’m relatively split on this since I’ve wanted to play it at some point, but I have a strong dislike of PC games, and would’ve preferred it on PSP so maybe I’ll import it and buy it on PC to support it.

    • malek86

Yep, I guess the point is just to see how many “Yes” they can get :P

It would be the same if instead of “Yes” and “No”, they just had a “I’m interested!” button, but it doesn’t change anything anyway.

  • Zharkiel

    No, thanks.
The poll idea is cool, but I have no interest in HMH. Hopefully, they’ll have more polls for some of their other ip’s

  • Joseph Steinhilpert

I’m interested in Grand knight history they said the might put on steam

    • TrevHead

This, I would love to see Vannilaware games on Steam, same goes for Tactical RPGs since they are as rare as Unicorn poop on PC and 360

  • AndyFe

Yes I would like to have more Half minute hero although I would like it better on the Vita or psn as I don’t really play games on the PC

  • http://whatistheexcel.com/ Excel-2014

Voted no to spite you all. Seriously guys, calm down.

  • Zonic505

Even if it’s digital only, I’d love to get this. As someone who enjoyed the original on PSP & has the XBLA version, I really want to be able to play the sequel.

  • http://www.segalization.com/ Kuronoa

Haven’t played this series but I’ll vote yes on the survey. Anything to get some weight off of XSEED’s back on people upset with them.
If my computer can handle the port I”ll play it on Steam.

Am I missing something?  The poll says nothing about a PC release.  I voted “yes” to voice my support for a localization, but preferably on PSP/Vita since HMH is a game best enjoyed in short spurts on the go.

I don’t like when the games I don’t care for are used as an “interest gauge” to decide whether the games I actually want are released or not.

I’m not voting for this because I have no interest in this or the game they already released on Steam.

And if a game like Grand History Knights, something I actually have interest in, has no chance of even being considered for a release on Steam because Half Minute Hero or whatever doesn’t sell well on Steam then f that.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

For Grand Knights History ask Vannilaware lol. It is their side that make the game don’t come here not X-Seed.

And you should actually tries HMH as the game is actually very nice unlike its presentation.

  • Göran Isacson

I am personally interested in this, but I can understand the people who feel like the games they WANT are being held hostage and told “like this game, but have no interest in that game? WELL TOUGH LUCK BUSTER if you won’t support us by buying that game you can kiss this game goodbye!”

I guess this is the flaws of “safe thinking” at display. They brought over Half-minute Hero and since I presume it sold decently, they’re now interested in seeing if we want to bring over another game in the franchise and to sweeten the pot they tease us with the prospect of other games they’re working on becoming available. It’s safe, and perhaps even “sound” business to do this… but at the same time I can’t help but worry that this could mean they start pumping out Half-Minute Hero games since that’s the “safe” route to take, and keep dangling other potential games in front of us like a carrot. A pixelated, old-school JRPG-shaped carrot.

As for it being on Steam or on other platforms, eh. That I care less about, NBD for me. I get the people who do find it a BD though, even if the portable market is in a weird place right now since the safest platform at the time seems to be 3DS, and most people here are clamoring for PSP games… tough situation, no real easy way out that satisfies every customer.

The first game didn’t sell “decently”, it bombed horribly. It is one of the top 3 worst selling localizations XSeed has ever done. The only reason they’re asking now is they’re not sure if word-of-mouth about the titles quality has spread far enough to warrant them taking a second chance on what is otherwise a failed property.

      • Göran Isacson

        C+Ping what I wrote above:
        “I
knew it sold badly on the PSP, but did it sell poorly on Steam as well?
If it didn’t move a lot of units there too, I’m even more confused as
to why they’re considering moving on to the sequel.”

      • http://twitter.com/sakura_candy Lumi

As far as I’ve heard, HMH and Retro Game Challenge are top 2. What’s the other one?

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

The games sells badly. Really badly if i remember correctly as even X-Seed members and Marvelous question how this game can bomb so hard.

The fact that they consider on bringing the second title here is because many of the fans actually keep asking for X-Seed to bring the game here and also the fact that first title is coming to Steam.

      • Göran Isacson

I knew it sold badly on the PSP, but did it sell poorly on Steam as well? If it didn’t move a lot of units there too, I’m even more confused as to why they’re considering moving on to the sequel.

        • http://twitter.com/sakura_candy Lumi

I assume it gathered enough attention to make them reconsider the sequel?

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

While i voted yes here, i can’t help but question and hoped that if they actually bring the game here, the game will sell really well as poll result is never a good guarantee that the game will also sell that much.

The time HMH 2 is released, maybe there are other game which is also released and causing the gamer who think of getting the game to move away from the game for the sake of other game.
Not to mention, there are also fake voters which only vote because they think it is interesting or their friend ask them to vote however the voter himself does not have any interest to the game.
Fanbase rage can also be another factors that causes the game to lose sales. If they found that the second HMH lacks on something they wanted, they can go and said this game sucks and we should never get this games.(Tales fans.T_T)

Hope that this will do well and shows to publishers and game developers that originality and unique jrpg games is still rewarded.^_^

  • Zharkiel

    Senran Kagura poll when?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000172099718 Dominic Hunter

Just finished spreading this everywhere I have influence. REALLY hope this goes well!

  • Naux

Press Yes, please! Waited for this since the PSP release in Japan.

  • http://twitter.com/AnthonyFoster5 Anthony Foster

This is a PSP game, why is it only listed under the PC section? I’m not even sure if there is a PC version at all?

    • Göran Isacson

There is, actually. A Steam-version, it was quite heavily publicized here on Siliconera once it got out.

EDIT: NEVER MIND realized you were refering to HMH2, not the first one. My only guess here is that Siliconera writer must have believed that it’s more likely they’ll convert the HMH2 to PC and Steam, instead of releasing the PSP version here in the West.
