Square Enix made a tower defense spinoff with the Final Fantasy Tactics Advance characters called Crystal Defenders. Now, those Hume Soldiers and Seeq Beserkers are charging into Puzzle & Dragons from GungHo Online Entertainment. You can add Crystal Defenders characters to your Puzzle & Dragons party and fight Tonberrys in a crystal dungeon. Apparently, there are enemy crystals too.

GungHo Online Entertainment also made a weird moogle dragon and if you give it magic stones you can get Crystal Defenders characters. The collaboration kicks off now, but it looks like it’s just for Japan. Puzzle & Dragons is available in English on iOS.

I thought this was Tactics A3…

  • Crap…….I was so excited. In my head I thought this was TA 3 for 3ds…….the reality, isnt what i wanted. DAMN YOU REALITY

Now go and make a proper FFTA 3 Squeenix.

    Crap, give us FFT2 already.

  • kind of sucks that we’re still waiting for a serious Final Fantasy Tactics game

A1 and A2 were all good and fine (except the judges, those were a terrible gameplay mechanic), but they really never captured the feel of the original.

    • Yes, a Final Fantasy Tactics 2 (not A) would be a wonderful thing to have. Final Fantasy Tactics was the first game that I spent more than 40 hours in (nearly 100) and it was the first SRPG that I played through to completion (with most of the optional characters recruited).

So, yeah, I’d love to see a new FFT (not A, but a sequel to the original Tactics game).

Final Fantasy Tactics is one of those hidden gems that wasn’t discovered until 10 years later… FFT was bashed by critics when it first came out, and only after he millennium did it first get re-discovered as the pinnacle of SRPG, story-telling, and Final Fantasy Universe. The impact of the Ivalice world Ramza left really indeed needs a new hero to bear his torch.
