Irem Has Another 3DS Game… Oh Wait, Never Mind

By Spencer . November 29, 2012 . 4:02pm

imageIrem just announced another 3DS game and *sigh* it’s another pachislot game. Pachipara 3D Deluxe: Sea Story is slated for release in February 2013.

What’s kind of interesting about this pachislot game is the story mode puts you on a solitary island and you have to survive… we assume by plunking 10,000 yen bills into slot machines. Hopefully, we’ll get another Irem Collection along with it.

On the plus side, at least Irem is still around making games and April Fool’s pranks.

Why are these pachinko games so popular in japan?
    Even Matrimelee has one.

(That’s the full version of it’s theme song)

Pachinko is like jackpot machine in casino lol of course it is going to be popular.
Not to mention pachinko is played by many unemployeed guys/gals in Japan to trade for everyday food and drinks.

      Too evil to fail.

  • ronin4life

Are these the guys that did some decent historical strategy games?

If only I understood Japanese better… there are few turnbased strategy games of interest here set in eras that interest me…

    • Kirbysuperstar2

I think the only strategy games Irem ever did were R-Type Tactics 1/2.

      • ronin4life

        Hmmm…
Maybe I’m thinking of someone else…
Well, I just wish someone would make a historical strategy game like nobunagas ambition for 3ds…-.-

        • Kirbysuperstar2

If Nobunaga’s Ambition, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Destiny of an Emperor and Liberty or Death were what you were thinking of before, that was all Koei.

          • ronin4life

Well, I knew Koei did those but I also knew there were a couple of other devs making similar games.
            ^,^

Man, why HASN’T someone made a game like that for 3ds yet? Hell, isn’t vita even getting a Nobunaga game? And wiiu has Rot3K…not that I could read any of them anyway…
            >.<

  • StarWarudo

Irem is one of my favorite devs based on one single game. Bumpy Trot (or Steambot Chronicles). That game is such an under-appreciated PS2 gem. I wish they hadn’t canned the sequel though.

  • WyattEpp

It would be magnificent if at some random point after you start playing, the Bydo attacked and it turned into a nails-hard R-Type.

…I mean, I can dream, right?

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

T_T Irem really is changing into Pachinko company. I am still hoping for new R-Type title and of course, Steambot Chronicle(I know it is canned.) to be revived.

    • Robert M. Fenner

Kazuma Kujoh says he’d like to revive Steambot Chronicles and ZZT (under different names) at his new company. It’s not too unrealistic

  • Silver Citizen

God, I hate Irem so much now. I don’t think I’ll ever get over the cancellation of Bumpy Trot 2.

I think if they’re low on cash, they should attempt to port over their older classics to 3DS like Steambot Chronicles (preferably the original PS2 game, hey if Tales of the Abyss can make it over), they’re quickly building a fanbase on the 3DS, plus they brought over lots of their classic GameBoy games in the games as bonuses, why not utilize your new fanbase with easy ports?

Then if that’s successful, then try new entries on said IPs.

    My two cents anyway.

    • JonathanisPrimus

Quickly building a fanbase? I don’t believe these pachislot games sell more than 10k, and the crew that would make new games in their franchises have already bailed to companies like Granzella.

      • http://mmv-wii.proboards.com/index.cgi Hero of Legend

Well they’re focusing on 3DS as opposed to Vita or still on PSP, so why not take things up a notch and do the ports? New games could always be made by whoever’s there, or just hire capable people.
