New Resident Evil 6 Mode Turns You Into Big Bad B.O.W. Ustanak

Capcom announced three new modes for Resident Evil 6 and one of them has an interesting twist where a player controls Ustanak, the B.O.W. that chases Jake throughout the game. Five human players have to work together to defeat Ustanak, controlled by a sixth player, or at least try to survive until time runs out.


Resident Evil 6 will also get a survival mode where KOed characters respawn as monsters that attack other humans, but have to defeat another human player to get back in the game as a survivor. Onslaught mode is a versus mode where two players compete to clear out waves of monsters. Each mode costs 320 ($4) Microsoft points or 720 Microsoft points ($9) if you get a bundle pack with all three modes.


Predator, Onslaught, and Survivors mode will be released for Xbox 360 on December 18. Capcom says this is the initial wave of downloadable content. Xbox 360 will get this content “exclusively first” suggesting a PSN releases is in the pipeline. A title update for Resident Evil 6 will also be released on December 17, which changes the in-game camera and unlocks Ada Wong’s cooperative campaign. Capcom says the extra player character for Ada’s chapter is optional, so you can play through Ada’s missions solo as too.

    That PvP mode looks interesting, but dunno… I’m more hyped for the other update, that adds and fixes a lot of stuff.

    Meh… I was looking forward to more traditional modes like TDM, Horde, or 4p co-op Mercs.

      Is this a joke at RE6’s expense or a legitimate “meh”? Either way, yeah it’s kinda odd that they did that for 5 but not 6. I don’t own the game, so someone correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Mercenaries still in 6? That’s pretty much horde.

        A “meh” to those modes.

        RE6’s Mercs isn’t the same as RE5, for me it doesn’t hold the same replay value as 5 did. Not only that but 3 maps get old real quick. I’ve actually always wanted a timeless Merc mode since RE5.

          I’ve always wondered myself why Mercenaries never had an endless mode where you went until you died. What’s different between Mercs 5 & 6 (aside from the dismal 3 map choice), again, I don’t actually have the game so I wouldn’t know.

            For me, I think there is a couple of things that bug me and it’s probably because I play RE5’s Mercs to death. Melee attacks are easily spammed, sub bosses are practically nonexistent, and people seem to not understand the difference between “Playing for fun” and “Serious Players” so they quit mid-match when we lose a combo or I don’t spam melee to get the 7sec bonus. I know there’s more stuff but that’s all I can think of.

    Predators mode looks cool, but Ustanak looked underpowered in that video, they were probably just downplaying him. Survivors looks dumb. Onslaught sounded dumb at first, but the video has me interested. It plays like Puzzle Fighters! XD

    Onslaught mode is like Tetris Attack/Panel De Pon/Puzzle League. ONLY WITH HORRIBLE MONSTROSITIES. I want.

    I hope this mode would warm us up for an obviously non-canon boss rush; I mean, I’m one of the many who’d love to face bosses from Tyrant/Nemesis to Ustanak.
