Europe Now Has A Headquarters For Japanese Indie Games

By Spencer . December 5, 2012 . 11:52pm

Rice Digital’s mission is making Japanese indie games like horizontal shooter Satazius and Fairy Bloom Freesia more accessible in Europe. PQube and Zen United are behind the portal which will sell downloadable PC games and keep people informed about the doujin scene.

Never played a doujin game before? You might be able to get Eryi’s Action for free. If the game gets 1,000 votes on Steam Greenlight, Rice Digital will give away 1,000 copies of Eryi’s Action for free. Here are the other eight games on Rice Digital’s launch lineup.

The only game that I’m missing from my Steam list is Eryi’s Action, which I’ve voted for the moment it got listed on the Steam Greenlight thingy.

There exists such a thing as doujin games? I`m not really surprised, but I didn`t know that!

For a second there, when I browsed the page really quickly, I thought that picture on the top right was Touhou LOL.

I already tried Ether Vapor, and it was a really good game, but you have to switch guns so often, it takes a bit of getting used to do that. I’m really glad that there’s a company that’s dedicated to providing doujin games from Japan. Let’s see what else they’ll bring over!

More passion-project games are ALWAYS a good thing in my book. Really looking forward to seeing what this might bring in the future!

Always pretty cool to see people attempting this officially, haven’t played any of those so I might pick one or two up at some point. Here’s hoping it prospers, I want to see what indies on the other side of the world can do.
