Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment Trailer Shows The MMORPG-Like Battle System

By Spencer . December 5, 2012 . 2:13am

Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment is designed to feel like an online RPG. Fights are in real time and partner characters are controlled by the computer. You can temporarily take control of Asuka to use her Sword Skills by using the switch ability, but most of the time you control Kirito who has different attacks mapped to each face button.

Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment will be available on March 14 in Japan.

It’s such a shame that this game has next to zero chance of a release outside of Japan.

    • vanhyde

      hmm.. true enough

but i think somebody will take a translation patch for this game
      seeing SAO fanbase like now,.

      • I think you can get a chinese patch for it faster lol. Have you seen the speed of release of chinese translated LN??

        • Raze

          Not just LN…Games too..
I think someone told me that there’s a full translated patch for FFT-0…In Chinese Languange..
I dunno if its true or not though…

    • Stranger On The Road

there is a still a chance that it will have a PS Vita and/or PS3 remake, in which case that game would be localized!

Don’t give up hope; but for the time being, start learning Japanese, is not as difficult as people fear it to be

      • But it does involve a bit of investment though…..

But yeah, keep on hoping… At least SAO looks more sellable than tht AW game….

        • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Don’t forget.^_^ It actually looks more playable than AW.^_^

      • LynxAmali

-there is a still a chance that it will have a PS Vita and/or PS3 remake, in which case that game would be localized!

        Except you know, no.
        Just because a game gets remade doesn’t mean its going to be localized. ;_;

    • Because PSP outside of Japan it’s almost death and companies in EU or US won’t buy the copy right because they may be affrraid that the game could not sold a lot, if it as for PS3, or XBox or PC, yeah that way they would buy the copy right.

I don’t know if what i just said it’s true it’s just my opinion

  • vanhyde

    cool :3
game speed improved than last trailer

and MMORPG system without multiplayer i think kinda plain

    • *ahem*.hack*ahem* Its been done be4. Just sayin.

      • vanhyde

well, how should i say this

.hack was mere adopting MMORPG concept

while SAO game was more MMORPG like(based on this trailer)

proven by direct battle without screen change :D

        • .hack is still far better than this game

  • Raze

The batte speed is still slow….
I hope they can make it faster…

    I like the town though…
I wonder if they will make one town only…

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

The battle looks like .hack there.(The original one.) So i think it is okay.^_^
Not to mention, the game come from Bamco too.^_^

  • neetyneety

Wow, those graphics honestly look on par with what a Vita can output.

    • Kelohmello

That’s a joke right? Or have you never played a Vita?

    • almostautumn

I dunno about that, but Japanese devs have really mastered the PSP’s hardware. Did you try out the Sol Trigger demo (or buy it)? Truly, these companies are doing what S-E/Capcom and even Sony themselves are doing, even though they’re not the “kings” (biggest budget).
This is why I hate the speed gaming-gens move; when smaller companies get the opportunities to create games like this, that really maximize the system in both hardware maturity and dev teams themselves, is when video games are at their true best.

But chance of localization isn’t even a plausible thought, and that’s a real shame.

  • TheSwordUser

    Mom, please!!

  • Srsly Bamco stop spoiling the biggest twist in aincrad arc…..

While I can’t comment on the gameplay I can say tht it looks gorgeous! Like neetyneety said, it looks on par with a Vita game when it is in motion…. I don’t see the usual PSP jaggies here. The cutscenes is alooks good too. This could be a solid game.
I hope we can play this in english…. official or TL patched. But I think TL patch might be the only way to go…. T_T

OMG they redesigned Klein (IIRC) :3 We need more Klein lol. This guy should get his own spin-off and a wife…. ATM I can settle with playable and SLink-kable Klein.

Judging by my limited knowledge on JP words… Looks like its time for… *puts on glasses* Forever Suguha.
Also I think heard Leafa say she is the leader to a top guild??

Get Asuna away from The Evil Eye, just sayin. *wink* Do the same to Silica too, just sayin. *wink*

    Again can any1 plz kindly translate wht the narrator is sayin and new haremmate slash friendzoned mate Purple-chan name and VA? ^.^;

    • Kibbitz

TBH, you really aren’t missing much since they don’t really explain anything notably mechanically, so I’ll just offer the summarized version.

The first minute it sets the premise of the the game in general, talking quickly about what SAO is. 1:00 to 1:30 or so talks about how Arksophia is set as the home town where you can prepare yourself for your adventures, and how you can make new friends and then deepen the bonds of your friendship through mail and meetups.

The 1:30ish to 2:00 mentions that battles are real-time where you can fight in tandem with your partner, and that you can issue orders to your partner to heal and attack and stuff in order to win. Then it goes on about how you can pick your partner, as well as a “who will you go to the end with” and such. Is the purple-chan person you’re referring to at 1:57? Her name is written simply as SU-TO-RE-A, probably Straea or something like that. Her voice actress is Misawa Sachika, voices Kuroyukihime in Accel World.

2:00 plus talks about how you can actually also issues commands to other groups in the game since you’ll need to for dealing with some bosses before finishing up with the usual promotional spiel about venturing forth bravely, with the end being the usual LE goods stuff.

        Thk a lot, Kibbitz.

I just noticed there a english name in the background when they show the girls… Yup its Strea. Wait, KYH is VA-ing her?? *fangasm*

Btw could you also translate the moonspeak they are saying frm 2:20 onwards?

        • Kibbitz

I looped that segment many times, some of the parts I can’t make out clearly. From what I can tell, the lines in order meant something like this:

          * Can’t make out the name, sounds like Inter to me, but essentially says that “It’s unacceptable for [so-and-so] to be the subleader of the strongest guild.”

          * “Shall we go, partner?”

          * “It’s fun, living every day like this”

          * “Onii-chan…”

          * “Don’t bully Kirito.”

          * “Effectively something like “That’s… that’s not true!”

          * “I will protect Asuna!”, the ‘zettai’ shows how strongly this is expressed.

    • XYZ_JolteonZ980

Spoiling? I dont know isnt the game to be sold to people already familiar with the anime or the light novels, I really cant imagine the game pulling in non followers of the series or people who have not at least finished the SAO arc.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

We get purple-chan and we don’t get Sachi…… i know i know i have been saying this again and again but Sachiiiiiiiiiiii.T_T

      • Raze

        Well…If Sachi is here…

There will be no place for Asuna…

        • 404 Not found.
EDIT Wait its back. Derp me.

          • Raze

            This is the Pic…

          • And later that day:

        • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Isn’t that the opposite here? Kirito is going to end up getting Pk’ed by Asuna lol.^_^

  • Seven of The Scions

Why not make it online? i mean just like Phantasy Star Online 2, why not??? oh God, Why?

  • AuroraDrops

I wish this were a vita title. I would import it in a heartbeat. But I am more hesitant to dust the PSP off for a tie in title.

  • dr000d

Asuka is in this? We going EVA?

    • miju

I thought the same thing even though I’ve called her Asuka by accident a couple times before too.

  • XYZ_JolteonZ980

Thank good ness Kirito in action looks better than the anime sometimes makes him with weird faces and all. Would get

  • MadSova

I wonder how they will explain why Silica who were much lower level is there on the front lines with Kirito + what Lyfa is even doing there… Cool they made a new character for the game. Still I can’t came to like the Kirito’s redesign…

    • FYI, they use Leafa if you look closely to the background when its introducing the girls. Also the new chick is called Strea.

Me too. Lisbeth + Yui & Asuna??? How???

      • MadSova

Oh… it’s true. Guess I’m just used to Baka-tsuki’s translation of LN (it’s Lyfa there).

  • zferolie

I am shocked they are still pushing the PSP in Japan. I mean, the Vita isn’t selling like hotcakes(it’s selling pretty good but could be better), and I think if they stop supporting the PSP it would help.

They could still make PSP games, but make them downloadable only so you can get them on the Vita, or make a very limited amount of hard copies(just enough for the special editions)

I would like this because maybe then they would have a chance of coming to America… Sony is NOT going to release another hard copy game on the PSP anywhere outside of Japan…

    • LynxAmali

You know Vita is getting most, if not all of these, right?

Besides, the PSP is dead EVERYWHERE BUT JAPAN. Part of the reason I still think they came out with the Vita in the first place actually.

It mainly comes down to market + Demographic + Target audience.

      • zferolie

So it will be on the vita as well. Makes sense then.

And I know it’s still huge in japan, but I wonder if because they are still supporting the PSP in japan that the Vita sales are suffering. I love my vita, but I wish they push it more out here in America and Europe…

        • LynxAmali

Like I said, it’s primarily a development cost issue and where the target audience is. Wait it for a year or something. I think that’s the average it takes. I’m pretty sure the PS2 was getting games into 2008/2008, despite the PS3 still being out.

Wait til the Vita’s succesor comes out. People will probably say what they’re saying now when the Vita still gets games.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Woo, can’t wait! Day one get

  • This ones going to be hard to import. There is a lot of Kanji up in there.

  • Just Tim

Why can’t they just go the whole mile and make a proper MMO with this?

Also, if SAO gets a complete series release, a translated game would be a nice bonus. (I still remember when Samurai Deeper Kyo got a complete series release with a GBA game in it).

  • This looks pretty sweet, I hope it actually sees a U.S. release.

  • YuukiCross

Where can I purchase or order it? I wanna play it as soon as it’s released… Is it downloadable? If it’s, then it’d be better, then I’d just have to download it.. :) I hope there will be an English and PC version for this game, it’ll be mostly fun. I think. :D
