Level-5’s Fantasy Life Seen Through Yoshitaka Amano’s Artwork

By Spencer . December 8, 2012 . 9:30am

Yoshitaka Amano and Nobuo Uematsu are connected to another fantasy game, but not a "final" one. Level-5 hired the Final Fantasy artist as an illustrator for Fantasy Life. Amano also created cover art for the game’s mini-soundtrack CD. That’s a bonus for people that pickup Fantasy Life at launch.

Fantasy Life’s music is composed by Uematsu who scored many Final Fantasy titles before starting his own company, Smile Please. Fantasy Life comes out in Japan on December 27.

  • The drawings certainly have a unique look from popular styles.

  • Always loved Yoshitaka Amano and his artwork. True art right there.

Has anyone hinted on how many… err, “lives” one can lead on a single cartridge?
If you can only have one and this game is localized, then that would be another excuse for me to import…>.>
Eh, I’ll probably import it anyway… if I can afford it when it comes out…@,@

  • Elvick

I love Amano’s art so much. Makes me wish I had some artistic capabilities.

  • Charles

I really hope this gets localized.

  • ragingmerifes

Amano’s art always look magical. Even when it’s porn.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Even porn is unable to beat the magical Amano lol.^_^

      • ragingmerifes

Except when he draws porn himself. Which happened.

  • Aoshi00

Awesome, pre-ordrered this from AmiAmi so I wouldn’t miss the Uematsu soundtrack, Amano cover art is even better :) Still bummed Amazon canceled my Amano artbook set :(..

So, Yoshitaka Amano finally snaps and is now moving away slowly from the Final Fantasy series. That explains the lack of FF signature logo artwork in Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns.

    • I wouldn’t say he “snapped” at all. He’s barely been involved in the last few games. Throwing a logo together doesn’t make him heavily involved in development to the point where he would have any reason to snap, as you put it.

    • Yoshitaka Amano is a freelance artist and always has been. He largely gave up lead design duties on the Final Fantasy series over a decade ago.

Most of his work since the late-90s has been focused on fine art exhibitions and illustration work for novels.

  • YourAshyAss_Elbows

Enlarge the artwork by just a tad bit more, please :). Looks good like always

Such a tease. Announce it for NA already. >_<
