Capcom Japan Celebrates Mega Man’s Birthday With Sale On Famicom Classics

By Spencer . December 16, 2012 . 1:30pm

imageMega Man turns 25 next week and it’s a lonely birthday compared to the big bash for Street Fighter. He can celebrate about his… car insurance premium going down?

Capcom USA will release Street Fighter X Mega Man, a fan made game with World Warriors as robot masters. Capcom Japan made Mega Man Xover… which is like playing Mega Man on a conveyor belt.

The other thing Capcom Japan is doing is a Virtual Console sale for Mega Man games. Mega Man 1 –6 on 3DS Virtual Console plus Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10 for WiiWare are 20% off until January 7, 2013.

Happy Birthday Mega Man. We remember your 20th birthday fondly and attended your party in Tokyo!

      • http://www.facebook.com/jonathan.benefiel.3 Jonathan Benefiel

no but 7 should. 8 was on ps1 I think. *looks up* and saturn.

        • D-Rev

Megaman & Bass was on the Super Famicom too…
          I think that should get a PSN/WiiWare/ect port…

Mega Man 7 – Super NES
          Mega Man 8 – PlayStation/Saturn

I wonder if they’re doing this to actually see how many people want a new Mega Man game or just to milk the series…i wonder….

    • AkuLord3

Milk the series? no they used to. I bet its just to see how many new people they can get and for those you haven’t gotten yet

Even since his introduction, I’ve always preferred Zero to Mega Man.

“Ha! This girlie-looking, long-haired robot will be the strongest? Don´t make me laugh!” .-Bass

While I do agree that I liked Zero´s role and character since his introduction, my first impression was pretty similar to Bass´s.

Was Inafune invited to the party?

  • ragingmerifes

Why are you like this, Capcom?

  • John Diamond

how can ya miss out megaman 8. that was one of the best megaman games out there

    • Justin Whiteaker

Because playstation and not Nintendo. 9 and 10 are free from this becauase they were distributed to all consoles to begin with.

  • Shadowman

    Pretty nice!

IMO, this is a bit of a luck luster to commemorate the Blue Bomber’s 25th. Though, I’m withholding whole personal judgement for the moment.

  • Romangelo

why they don’t just port all of these to PSN? (not as a PSOne classics but real PSN games)

  • Haseyo

“Your present is…not paying us AS MUCH money. But seriously, fork up dat yen.”

  • alundra311

I wish they would have at least added 3D to Mega Man 1-6.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

no 7,8 and Megaman and bass?

  • doubletaco

Sorry, Capcom. You had your opportunity to earn my business back, but like I said with Okami HD — Rereleasing old games from before you were dancing on their graves is not the way to do it.
