Capcom Packs Mega Man Games Together For PS3 25th Anniversary Compilation

By Spencer . December 17, 2012 . 3:03pm

l_50cead22e861fPlayStation owners aren’t left out of the Mega Man mini-sale celebration. Capcom packed the rearranged Rockman Works versions of Mega Man to Mega Man 5 plus Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10 in one digital bundle. You can purchase the Mega Man 25th Anniversary Commemorative Campaign Pack for 2,500 yen ($30). The sale kicks off on December 18 and will run until January 7, 2013.

Mega Man 6 is left out because it isn’t on PlayStation Network yet. Neither is Mega Man 8 even though Capcom re-released a bunch of other games on the PlayStation Store. Perhaps, a more appropriate pack for Japanese fans would be Mega Man Anniversary Collection, which believe it or not was never released in Japan!

    Trophy Support?

    • Zonic505

Only Mega Man 10 has trophy support. MM9 was out before trophies were added & the rest are PS1 Classics/imports, which don’t have them.

      • DesmaX

        I see… Thanks.

  • ragingmerifes

Capcom is making a homage to Mega Man by CHARGING everything they call a gift. Get it? Mega Man charges his beams. Capcom charges downloads.

    • AkuLord3

      I’m sorry…i laughed

    • Kaihedgie

Sometimes I think Capcom would just pull the plug on Mega Man. There is absolutely no point in continuing this with people like you around who will continue to complain for getting anything at all.

      • TheRealMalek

Because releasing for the 3rd, 4th ? time a game at a not free of charge price is a great way to make rockman fans happy ?

I don’t think so. but Street fighter vs rockman was a really good move, waiting for what they could announce the 19th…

        • Shane Guidaboni

Going to have to agree here. They aren’t doing Mega Man fans any favors by releasing this.

        • Kaihedgie

Whining in spite of getting anything at all, regardless of charge, is why they should quit. When did “gamers” suddenly start talking more about business and money than actually playing games?

It’s their IP and they can do whatever they want with it. This franchise does not belong to the fans and thus, aren’t entitled to anything

          • Chogokin

I have to agree, gamers need to be less entitled.

          • Tonton Ramos

What is wrong with you?! You want Megaman or not?! I’m still buyin it!
Trolls with useless common sense don’t belong here just to make our smiles upside down.

          • Kaihedgie

            Replying to the wrong person

          • TheRealMalek

i… wasn’t whinning… I was even giving points to them fo releasing SF X MM.

The fact is we don’t have new games to play with. (Still rtying to understand why they had to cancel MML3…)

So we are talking about why they don’t release new games. Capcom have killed a lot of IP in the past and fans don’t understand why MegaMan was been “canned” an try to see why in a term of business they have to can it.

          • Sergio Briceño

I think the reason why they canceled MML3 is because Inafune was way too ambitious and Capcom as a company just wanted to play safe.

The game was beggining to turn into something really big and getting out of hands, so after a few demos (which looked awesome btw) they decided it wasn’t “up to standards”, which means it was too good and needed to be a little more mainstream.

Inafune lost it and quit. Again. :( Then the game was canceled…

      • ragingmerifes

It. Was. A. Damn. Joke. Man.

        • Kaihedgie

It stopped being funny a long time ago

          • Sergio Briceño

Speak for yourself. It was funny to me. :p

And about this bundle, I only owned the games back when my NES still worked. Which was like a year ago now, so I probably will get this. Just wish they threw in Megaman vs Forte, but oh well…

          • ragingmerifes

I said it was a joke. Not that it was funny.

    • Lester Paredes

That’s to gauge consumer interest. Consumers speak with their money much louder than empty words.

      • that is complete nonsense. capcom keeps pooping out minimal effort games and we’re supposed to support them in the hopes that maybe somewhere down the line they start caring again? they’ve become an AWFUL company. they have to work for our money, not we have to work to get a decent game out of them.

        • Lester Paredes

And thus, you do not know economics. How do you think 2 horrible Fantastic 4 movies were made? Because people went to go see the first even though they heard it was crap. How about them Resident Evil movies? Same deal. My money means more to Capcom than my words. As it does for any company making a product for profit. Besides, you got Street Fighter X Mega Man for free, right? They certainly didn’t have to go and advertise and distribute it off of their community website.

  • AkuLord3

Be cool to see like…6, 7, 8 then get X1-5 (screw 6, 7 and 8 ehhh maybe) idk seems like it be a pretty cool thing and not kinda half ass like the SF ones…which was the same thing…

  • Guest

    Some things just never change.

  • yellowmage

    What about Mega Man 7?

  • Göran Isacson

Kinda bummed it’s not ALL the games, but I guess that a rerelease of that Anniversary Collection would have caught flak for not including the two latest games and Megaman and Bass… man, wouldn’t it be neat if this collection COULD just include EVERYTHING Classic Megaman related? That’d be real neat.

    • Anniversary Collection was English only, like this article says. It wouldn’t be worth the trouble to re-insert Japanese scripts.

  • Jimmy

Not to sound whiny or anything but all I really want from this anniversary is at least the prototype version of megaman legends 3. Even if its unlikely or whatever, I think Barrett was a really cool character and shouldn’t have been wasted.

    • TheRealMalek

MML3 hs been canned the hard way (it didn’t go into development hell like many other games), so it’s really unlikely.

  • $36598391

    “digital bundle”
….. come on Capcom, Square Enix released a collection of Final Fantasy 1 to 13 ON DISC

    • Elvick

A weird combination of different discs to be fair.

      • I agree it’s kind of weird to do collection like this on discs, it would be fine to do a case with manuals and or art books with a download code.

        • Elvick

That’s not what I meant. That collection had UMDs, PSone discs, and all sorts of random discs. It was not a well put together collection of games. It was super lazy to me.

  • Lester Paredes

Aww. I wish they’ed bring this out in America. We’ve only got japanese mega men 1-4, and PSN/XBLA 9, 10.

  • Elvick

Would have been nice if they used this as the time to release MM6 on there and include it, at least.

  • Awwwwwwww, I thought this was some uber awesome compilation! Like, all the X games and Classics (and perhaps Legend 1 and 2).

  • MediaMindControl

Megaman Is sooo under the radar this gen that all the marketing add options are Megamind and mega bundle LOL

  • Romangelo

the US PSN doesn’t even have Mega Man 5…

  • OverlordZetta

It looks like you only mean JAPANESE fans here.

  • All i need is Megaman 8 for the PS1 ._. .. I wonder if they are ever gonna return to that style for Megaman 11 :(
